Built in 1840, this former Cape May plantation residence is now home to the acclaimed Washington Inn and Wine Bar. The Craig Family has carefully preserved the beauty & essence of this distinctive treasure without undertaking major alterations to its original form. The Inns welcoming facade overlooks tree-lined Washington Street in the seaside communitys Historic District. The Washington Inn offers six unique dining areas, from a summer patio to cozy fireside tables. Cocktails are a must in the Wine Bar, where the passing Cape May scene can be best appreciated.     Another perfect meal at Washington Inn. Celebrated a birthday with my parents here from out of state. Mushroom soup was very flavorful and both the sea bass and short rib were excellent. Presented beautifully too. The short rib was the best I have had anywhere. Jenny our server was very attentive and really knew the menu and also made us aware of the sommelier on staff. We were not doing wines tonight but good to know as we will continue to go here. Decorated beautifully for the holidays too!

    We used to dine at the Washington inn every time we came to cape may over the past 30 years. The past 8 years or so , we stopped dining there , last night we gave them another try, sorry we did that . I don’t care for the Washington inn , they are extremely over priced and their food is mediocre at best . I had Crispy Crab Cakes , didn’t know crab cakes were crispy . My husband had filet that he enjoyed , so that was The only high point. And the desserts were ridiculous , chocolate cake and banana foster , nothing special , definitely not a pastry chef on staff for the prices they charge. And the bill was astronomical. I would never go back . I had a delicious meal at Icarra from start to finish .

    Always a treat when we come to Cape May! Food and service never disappoints. The place was packed so it’s pretty amazing how good the service is considering how busy they are. This time we had the seafood choppino and lamb cavatelli. Delicious. The bananas foster was good too but they don’t caramelize the bananas w any flame. Which would have been a nice touch. Will be back next year!

    The welcoming woman was subpar…not clear on directions, what party was being seated, etc so she really started the experience off on the wrong foot. Once we got rid of her, the experience took an upwards spiral—our waitress was superb, the food and cocktails were amazing and the valet service was great. Fix the front desk and we have a winner

    We had a wonderful experience at this venue. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and the Mistletoe Martini was divine. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family

    My favorite restaurant when I go to Cape May. Loved the Escargot and the Duck. Service was great. The mgr comes around to your table to make sure everything is as it should be. I’ve never had a bad experience there.
