The Plumed Horse Restaurant has been a beacon of South Bay fine dining since 1952. Led by Executive Chef Peter Armellino, it is a destination for those travelling to visit, yet retains its landmark status as a place to relax, unwind, enjoy, and indulge for locals. Michelin has agreed, awarding Chef Peter a star for 15 consecutive years.

Chef's tasting menu, composed of multiple courses featuring items from local farms and fishermen, is the highlight. A la carte is offered in select seatings on certain evenings.

Wear whatever makes you comfortable, but you are here for a special night out, dressing up is fun! While not required, suits, sportcoats and classy attire will generally get you the best seats in the house.

We are an "adult restaurant." If you are bringing in younger patrons, we want to make it a great experience for every guest. We ask for no tablet or cell-phone entertainment that might disturb others. This is your night to make memories with each other as a family.

From the OpenTable editors: Open since 1952, South Bay’s pioneering The Plumed Horse is a fine-dining destination for its California-inspired tasting menus. At the MICHELIN-Starred stunner with a nearly 20,000-bottle wine cellar and fireside lounge, chef Peter Armellino dazzles with dishes like black pepper-parmesan soufflé with uni and blue crab fondue. Taken just as seriously as the food, the award-winning sommeliers and bartenders craft exquisite pairings to level it all up even more.

We ordered the 4 course tasting menu and enjoyed it much more than the full course tasing menu. I had the soufflé which was the best thing I’ve eaten all year filled by the wagyu steak. All wagyu is not equal and this was excellent. The desserts were so so, I had the cheesecake and my date the Brest. Both were ok but compared to the rest of the food, seemed weak. We also had the stacked potatoes with crème fraiche and chives which I loved. Ample servings, too. We love The Plumed Horse! Nice to have a good restaurant close by.

Disappointing. It started poorly with bartender bullying. They failed to take our winter coats, led us back and forth through the dining rooms deciding which table to give us. After sitting for ages we asked for wine and cocktail menus, narrowing down to two bottles and asked the waiter for tasting notes. He advised that he knew the owner at one winery so that was probably good but the other choice was famous so it was probably good too (???). So, tannins? Mouthfeel? No? Ok. Clarified milk cocktail looks beautiful but apparently is a secret. Weird but fine and in keeping with bartender bullying that prevailed here. Dinner was 2/4. Apparently the steaks were excellent. I had the fish and it was absolutely plain Jane. It was plain black cod in two lumps. No special preparation. Just two lumps of cod with sauce on the side. Our two side dishes never arrived. So I sat in front of the fish lumps until eventually they cleared the plates. Our desserts passed by our table several times before they finally landed. The staff that brought them, including the bartender, had no idea where they were going or what was being served. We had 2 cheese plates and when we asked what cheeses were included they said some words about one being blue and one being hard. A 20% service fee is included regardless service. Final fail, we were asked if we wanted a “tour of the wine cellar” whereupon we were led into the glass box and stood there awkwardly while they offered to take our picture. (We declined). They then pointed to the door. We saw ourselves out.

We had to evacuate our house, and because of that we could not make a Thanksgiving dinner. The folks at the Plumed Horse were beyond gracious and made our Thanksgiving, in very trying circumstances, a delightful memory. As always, the food was excellent, service elegant, and the people divine. Thank you all so much for saving our holiday!

This has been probably my 10th time eating here, either at special occasions or just dinner and this is the first time I’ve felt rushed and where they haven’t timed it right. Last year at Thanksgiving, the meal and experience was 3 hrs. Today 1.5 hr. Should have just gone to chilis. No add on for caviar or waygu was disappointing but survivable. Ultimately I was disappointed and may not come back next holiday

It was great. Service was amazing. It was a little slower than expected but not a deal breaker. Food was amazing but the pork chop was a little towards the drier side. Tasty though. We spent a lovely evening at Plumed Horse.

We had a wonderful time! It was my second time here. I brought my girlfriend for her 30th birthday and she was amazed by the food. Every single dish left a mark on her memory.

This was an excellent choice for a date night with my husband. We did the 4 course Prix Fixe and it was delicious. Dont miss the Crab and Uni souffle! The food was delicious and we left feeling perfectly satiated!
