About this restaurant

Seasonal Local American Cuisine. We use many local products from local farmers. We are located about a mile west of the University of Virginia campus. Historic old home turned into a restaurant. Three small intimate dining rooms upstairs, one on the ground floor and a large weather protected patio. In the winter the Patio is heated. Family owned since 1995. Special diet needs met upon request.

    The staff is VERY attentive, and we've never had a bad experience. The food is always superb, and the menu rotates just enough to keep it fresh. There are a few standards like the gnocchi bolognaise and the sticky toffee pudding. Lovely experience that should not be reserved only for special occassions!

    Might be nice if you're inside the original building. Not pleasant in the outside seating area, a former garage with brick floors and no heat turned on upon arrival, although it was sold and rainy outside. Finally turned heat on after being asked, never did get warm while there.

    Excellent food served in a lovely inn with more than adequate space between tables so we could hear each other talk. Charming places like the Ivy Inn are in short supply in Northern Virginia so were we happy to experience this gracious dining experience. We enjoyed the trout, shrimp and grits, and sticky toffee pudding cake. Looking forward to a return.

    Tuna appetizer, gnocchi Bolognese and lamb chops were all excellent. The feta & fig dip not so much. We didn’t even finish it. The biggest disappointment for us was the drinks. Pours were extremely light. My espresso martini should not be categorized as a martini and my husband’s Tito’s martini was maybe half a shot. See pictures. We said something but were told that’s the way it is. 2 drinks were not worth $30. Have drinks elsewhere before or after arrival.

    Terrific food. We had their mini biscuits with ham, shrimp and grits, gnocchi, and Rockfish. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was professional and low key, and the ambiance is homey. We shared the sticky toffee pudding with cappuccino kahlua ice cream for dessert and it was amazing! This would be my favorite restaurant if I lived here.
