   We had a lovely dinner at the Highwood, the team was very friendly and attentive, the food was absolutely delicious and inventive, it was great to see the phenomenal skill set of the students at SAIT’s culinary school. We can’t wait to come back!

   Went for a Christmas lunch with family. Was great for all ages with delicious food, wonderful atmosphere and incredibly affordable.

   Kristina did an outstanding job at serving our table! However the food was a bit disappointing, we ordered 2 salmon entree and 4 surf n turf, while both salmon dishes were delicious. The 3 out of 4 steak were way overcooked and dry. We have ordered 2 medium rare and 2 medium, all turns into “well done” and tough to chew. Hoping to see improvement next time.

   I have been to the Highwood before and really enjoyed it. Last night we went and I thought this time was just OK. Our server was hard to understand and we asked several times to explain it again. She showed us pictures of the food on her phone with one of the ladies in our party would describe what was in the photo. We chose our food (6 people in our party) and drinks. The drinks were great, the appies came out and they were very good. 2 salads, 1 asparagus soup, spinach dip and charcuterie board. They did not take the dirty plates until everyone at the table was finished. I personally do not like to sit infront of an empty plate until the rest of my party is finished. The meals came, 2 salmon, 2 chicken and 2 surf and turf. The salmon dishes were great. The chicken both had a cold potato and yam lasagna looking dish. They were sent back and replaced with hot dishes. Still unevenly cooked and tasteless. The surf and turf had a very tasty lobster roll, but the steak was tough and really not that fabulous. We did have desserts, apple tart, chocolate cake but more like a thick fudge, I was rather disappointed in the main meals during this visit.

   Haven't been to Highwood for several years - with knowing that this is a teaching school, expectations are different than many of the restaurants we love. We have loved the HIghwood for it's value, creativity and ability to support SAIT and it's students. Not sure we were at the beginning of a new team, or teaching has declined. We had a party of 7, one meal was totally forgotten - so the rest of us had almost finished eating when our elderly father received his steak which was tough and almost impossible to eat - and there was no offer to amend the bill for this error. The tartare was tasteless and some meals were oversalted (duck and shrimp pasta). Our server did not have knowledge of the cocktail menu, broke the cork in a very nice bottle of wine and communication with our server was challenging due to lack of English. Servers would reach between two people in conversation to pour water and wine - and there was no thought in how the plated dinners were served at the table - apart from the forgotten dinner - it probably took over five minutes to serve the other dinner - leaving meat to continue cooking and getting cooled. I think you get the jest - if you're teaching our future hospitality employees, you'd better raise the bar. This experience was far below many past visits we've had.

   Food was great but I found the server hard to hear and she didn't explain the specials very well. The pasta special was 'pasta that has shrimp on it'. When I asked what kind of sauce she said "its air fried". She had no idea what I was asking. But I love the restaurant and the students learning! Still a fabulous evening. Highly recommend to anyone!

   The daily special (Lamb Rack) was delicious and value for money. The Beef steak's quality could be better. The side dish~french fries was a bit too much. If they can deduct a bit and add some mixed veg will be perfect. Overall, both food and service are good.

    Great food and great service. Students learning in a live classroom but you couldn’t tell. Food is very good, pricing is good, and staff are very attentive. Will definitely come back. Stanley was a very good server.
