The Anand family has a long & successful history of catering, originating from the Punjab, North India.
Opened in 2007, the Cumin is situated just a stone’s throw from the Market Square and the castle. The restaurant offers a true taste of North Indian and Punjabi Cuisine.

The Cumin’s attained many awards over the years, Best Newcomer, Best in Midlands by Pat Chapman & the Cobra Guide for 2013 - 2014, shortlisted for the British Curry Awards 2014-2015 and receiving 5 star Metro rating are just a few.

These awards come from amazing cuisine, service & passion for the restaurant. Sunny who looks after front of house ensures all his guests are looked after, while our award winning executive chef Shelley brings the spices, aroma & flavors of North Indian Punjabi cuisine with a twist of his own skills & flare.

The Process of Dum Biriyani: This process reflects the ingenuity of the Indian Chefs. Food is part cooked and then put in a pot and the lid is sealed with dough paste to capture the moisture within the food as it is then tenderly and slowly cooked to retain all the flavour and aroma. These items can be sealed without the dough paste for guests with a gluten allergy. These items can be served without the yoghurt for guests with dairy allergy

We dropped in on a Monday night with more people than we booked for and the restaurant coped very well. The food was super tasty and service excellent. Already looking forward to a return visit next year

Really good food ,great flavours and fresh breads all the usual dishes and also some I had never tried before. Will definitely go again next time I am in the area

We were surprised and delighted by our visit. Fantastic atmosphere and wonderful food. Good portions of lovely seasoned tasty food so good we are planning another visit. Highly recommended I enjoyed the food and ambience more than I expected. Chicken Bhuna was expertly cooked in a rich tomato sauce and the lime rice tasted exquisite. I will book a table again soon.

A very nice evening at The Cumin. The food/menu was definitely a cut above the normal/average Indian restaurant. Presentation beautiful, and very tasty food.

Group of nine on a golfing holiday in Nottingham. Decided to try this Indian restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews. Fantastic Indian meal - everyone said it was the best we have ever experienced. Service was excellent and we will definitely be back.

Wonderfully friendly welcome, as always. Utterly delicious chilli paneer, fish curry with lime rice and plain naan accompanied by an excellent Italian red, followed by gulab jamun. Continues to be the star of Nottingham Indian restaurants.

very noisy not for a quiet meal, there was quite a few large groups so couldn’t really hear myself talk. Although Food was lovely really good tasty Indian curries and starters were tasty. Would recommend for good food!
