The Cove has been closed from last summer and only the bar area was open when we went. The bar was very noisy and crowded. The dining room was empty and looked exactly as it did last year so I assume nothing has changed interior wise. We were at the restaurant twice last year. The food and the service were ok but nothing special. The ambiance was terrible. A very odd entrance into what appeared as a nondescript hallway without any indication where the dining room was located. Weird. Once in the dining area, the atmosphere is not warm. The decor is dull and uninviting. No windows. The service staff was very nice but they didn't seem very knowledgable. It all seemed very disjointed.

We invited friends to go with us for New Year's Eve. We had been to the Cove once before and were pleased with the food and service we had, so we thought we'd take a chance on their Prix Fixe NYE menu. First negative: The dining room was very noisy with a couple of large parties, and they didn't seat is away from them. The atmosphere was not at all festive--just noisy. Second negative: They changed the menu from the one that was published online for the evening. There were only 3 entree choices instead of 4, and there was no choice for soup & no opportunity to "upgrade." Third negative: we had to ask for bread while we were waiting a long time for soup. Fourth negative: The salad was tiny and uninteresting. Fifth negative (and the killer): Our dinners came out long after our salads were cleared, and they were hugely disappointing. My friend's salmon was the smallest piece I'd ever seen. Mine was larger, but still only about half a portion. Everything but the filet and chicken was cold--cold potatoes, cold vegetables, cold pasta, and cold salmon--ick. When we complained to the waitress she said she would talk to her manager. She came back and said she'd take a percentage off from the bill. (No offer to warm the food, substitute, etc.) Fifth negative: 15% was taken off the bill! We asked about it, and the waitress sent out the manager who apologized, but when the bill came back it was unchanged. The only positives were: the soup was hot and tasty, the dessert was large and decent. Really not a festive and pleasant NYE, and not what we expected when we invited friends to go with us. We were very embarassed. We will NOT go back. It was the most amatuerish restaurant experience yet.

We went to The Cove for the Mussels Monday special ($8.00 for a pound of mussels). The mussels were small, but tender, and the sauces were delicious! We had a choice of nine different sauces for our mussels. My friend and I ordered the Thai style mussels which had a green curry coconut broth flavored with lemongrass and kaffir lime; we did not leave a drop of the broth in the bowl, sipping it and sopping it up with the tasty Italian bread that the waiter graciously refilled several times. My husband, who enjoys spicy foods ordered with the Cove style mussels in an ale broth with smoked bacon, corn, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime; and he was very pleased. In addition to the mussels, we all shared chicken wings with the mild and medium sauces, each appropriately seasoned and meaty. Adding greens to our meal, we shared the "Bacon and Bleu Roulade" salad composed of romaine lettuce, bacon bits, bleu cheese, tomatoes, red onions, chives, and walnuts. The greens were fresh and crisp and the add-in were plentiful and tasty making it an excellent salad. We'll return some Tuesday for the $8.00 premium angus burger specials. The entrees are much more expensive proportionately than the appetizers, soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches. Some unique items on the menu include: Charred Skillet Edamame, Pickled Shrimp in a Mason Jar, Chicken Fried Bacon, Truffle-Parmesan Fries, Crispy Avacado Fries, Roasted Beet Salad, and Cornmeal Dusted Oysters. We'll be back again friends sometime soon because there are many more items we would like to try.

We went out with our friends for some seafood and drinks. There was STAPLE in our friends soup who had taken a bite! Yes, a STAPLE. Now, the waitress came and we showed her the staple, which was most likely from a clam bag. Never did the manager stop by and apologize. What they did do is say, "would you like a free desert?", and I mean only one. Not anything off the bill or anything beyond that. The manager should be fired for his awful service. We will never go back and will also tell our local friends to not go.

We were very excited to try the new place in Brigantine, the menu looked inviting and something different on the island. Unfortunately it did not live up to what we were thinking. The food was ok, bland and not prepared in the fashion that was described on the menu. The service of food was very slow to start and then salads, apps and entrees all came at once! That would have been ok if that is the kind of style restaurant but it was not. The ambience is not great stark walls no decor and very loud. Unfortunately we will not be going back.

Great place. Fine food with a casual atmosphere. New twists on old favorites like mussels and clam chowder. Great draft beer list, too.

4th visit since it opened- servers are great but kitchen slow - food is hit or miss- burgers and mussels hit! Good beer and wine selection- mixed drinks way overpriced - bar needs to be mindful of not serving flat beer and garnishing cocktails- Tables are too high for booth in dining room ~ reaching across the table I spilled a beer- waitress replaced it by end of meal but charged me So hits and misses- hoping it improves and stays on the island for years to come!

I got the salmon which was delicious and my husband got the cod dish which was also really good. Waiter was very nice and very attentive. Kitchen was a little slow but the food was worth the wait and we weren't in a hurry. We definitely will go back😀

We were at the cove for lunch with another couple. We all enjoyed our lunch but the highlight was the Hangover Burger which my friend had. It was amazing! She loved it especially the egg on top. I had the fish tacos that were listed as an appetizer but was perfect size for lunch. And delicious. The waitress was charming and friendly, knowledgeable about the menu. Later the chef came to our table to say hello which was super nice. And they had a great beer selection. Perfect!

Really enjoyed the avocado fries, something different. Good selection of appetizers. Really enjoyed the short rib entrée, melt in your mouth. Will definitely be back.
