   Wow we were so impressed. Every thing about our service and food was 10/10. We arrived early and were happy to grab a drink or 2 at the bar but our table was ready. Therefore we ate before planned and wow. We searched and searched for a lovely roast in Bath and I’m so glad we came across this place. The beef, roasties, sides, service.. nothing could have been better. Highly recommend to anyone looking to book!

   We had an ok Sunday lunch today. The pub is our local and we have enjoyed dining there for a few years now but today it just felt a bit off. I had called earlier Tomkins my seating preference had been ok and was told they weren’t able to honour it and kept repeating the policy very prematurely when I was just enquiring. I mentioned it was my son’s birthday and could they do something to mark it when the desserts came out. They said yes they could put a candle in the pudding and I said that would be great. We arrived some hours later and our table wasn’t ready. We ordered and enjoyed our food which was of a good standard but the vegetable portions were much smaller than previously. Our waiter was lovely but was keen to clear the table and so we felt unnecessarily rushed. The puddings came out - no candle. It was really not much to ask nor to expect it being done. It feels like there’s been some change of staffing and more pressure put on staff to get people through their meals and also economies made on some portions. We hope it was just a bit of a bad day as the food remains fresh and delicious.

   Very disappointing Sunday lunch. Beef more fat than lean, chicken and pork very dry. Vegetables nothing like previous visits. What has happened?

   Excellent food and a lovely venue. I think they were short staffed the night we dined, but had a lovely experience

   A wonderful dining experience. Beautiful building and the food was all so tempting on the menu it was hard to choose. We ate the terrine and monkfish for starters and then pork chop and the whole brill. Faultless

   Well this place doesn’t disappoint the ambience is amazing. The quality of the food is bang on i will be back as im back in Bristol living now

   That was the best roast I have had all year The beef was melt in the mouth delicious The roasts super crunchy and fluffy inside Everything was just delectable Shall definitely return on our next visit

   Upon arrival we were shown straight to our table, our order for food and drinks were taken within 5 minutes. Friendly staff, great service, hearty food & we weren’t rushed to leave. Would definitely recommend!

    It was a Saturday night and very busy but the Chequers team handled everything very well. Our waitress May looked after us beautifully and took the time with us to make sure our food choices were good. Chequers also gave us the table that we had requested. We will be back!
