   Overall, The Casbah provided a very mixed experience. Aesthetically, this restaurant is incredible. The details and decor really make the experience memorable. The food itself was good - the couscous khudra was flavourful and very filling. The bastella was a delicious and interesting combination of sweet and savory. The harira soup, which we were told would taste like a grandmother's cooking, was underwhelming and tasted more to us like a canned minestrone soup. Unfortunately, our server dimmed our overall experience. I'm not sure if she was having an off day, or if she is a more recent employee, both of which are fair, but she seemed rushed and disorganized from the start. She also dissuaded us from getting the dish we asked for and suggested a different one, without us asking for recommendations and without asking what we were looking for taste-wise. The dish she recommended was great, but it wasnt our first choice. Our reservation was for 3, but one of our friends showed up late. The restaurant was not busy, and there were a few empty tables of four. We should have confirmed that it wouldn't be an issue for our friend to show up later and only for dessert - that's on us. But the was our server acted - completely frazzled when she saw the new person, and telling us we technically only had 1.5 hours but it was okay since they weren't busy, and asking quite abruptly if our friend was going to eat, was a reaction we weren't expecting. The server brought up what had happened two more times, unprompted, after we'd ordered. She was very passive aggressive and very clearly wanted us to leave - not asking if we were ready for the bill or if we wanted to split it, but instead bringing it to our table as we were still finishing dessert and making another comment about our friend joining. I'm sure the service is not always this way, but I'm not sure if I'd go back based on our experience.

   I cannot believe we waited so many years to come here. From the minute you walk in, you are transported to Morroco, the ambiance, romantic little tables in decorated nooks, the whole place is magical. The food! We did the full tasting menu and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. Our waitress was very gracious and knowledgeable. What a wonderful experience! Highly recommend.

   Such a great experience in Calgary! The food was outstanding, just as I remembered from travelling in Morocco. Best food we've had in Calgary in a long time. The ambiance is what makes it though, each table is cozy and private, so you can hear each other talk, and the Moroccan decor feels like you're not in Canada anymore, highly recommended. I am celiac and almost the whole menu is already gluten free!

   The space is beautifully designed and has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by the poor service we received. From the moment we sat down, our server made things uncomfortable. He tried to add a 15% tip to the bill and claimed it was standard practice. After checking reviews later, I saw this is a recurring issue for other guests as well. The service throughout our meal felt unprofessional—he dropped dishes on the table without a word, didn’t respond to simple courtesies like “thank you,” and made inappropriate comments about minimum wage and tipping. When I chose not to tip further, he told me he would “take it from God as a reward,” which felt manipulative and highly unprofessional. After I paid, he came back saying he had forgotten to add tax and asked for more money. To make matters worse, the restaurant canceled my reservation on OpenTable after our visit, likely to block me from leaving a review. I had to contact OpenTable to get it reinstated. While the decor and ambiance are appealing, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. I won’t be returning unless there’s a major change in staff and service standards.

   The overall experience was amazing and the ambience was spectacular. We order some appetizers and Tajine. The food was freshly made and tasted delicious, the portions though were not sufficient in my opinion. The food was also very heavy on the garlic side.

    I took my mom here for her birthday dinner and we had a great time. The customer service was outstanding and the food was so good. We have been to this restaurant many times before and every single time we have a great meal and great customer service. It’s definitely on list for top restaurants in the city. We will definitely be going back.
