The Britannia is Richmonds leading independent restaurant and bar.
Located in the centre of town and down a very pretty cobbled alleyway, we are next to historic Richmond Green and two minutes from the Waterside.
We have two large outside spaces - A roof terrace for traditional dining and a garden that lends itself to drinks and lighter fare.
The bar inside is cosy with the bustle of a busy space and the upstairs restaurant tables have white cloths and lamps for a more intimate feel.
Serving Day Boat Fish and Chips to grilled Lobster, Vegan and Vegetarian dishes along with award winning Mackens of Chiswick Steaks, simply the finest food in the area.
Our Wine list has more than a nod to the old world, showing not only the best of Burgundy and Bordeaux but also more eclectic boutique wines from Italy, Spain and even the USA.
We pride ourselves on our cocktails. Vesper Martinis sit alongside Hemingway Daiquiris and a large selection of Spritz for the summer months.

Two of us ate at The Britannia following a visit to The Richmond Theatre which is nearby. It is tucked away down a charming alley bordered by interesting independent shops and heading towards a green park. We were welcomed straightaway and shown to our table in the window. Menus were waiting on the table and we were asked straight away if we wanted water. I had a nice white negroni cocktail and my friend had a decent glass of wine. The whole atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Although it wasn’t formal by any means, white linen tablecloths and napkins always make a good impression. The food was hot and tasty. Unfortunately we didn’t manage dessert as we were full after two courses. Service was prompt but at no time was it intrusive. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.

We were looking for lunch before a visit to Richmond Theatre. I have limited mobility, so The Britannia was just the right distance away. On arriving the Maitre d’ saw my walking stick and found us a table downstairs rather than the one upstairs we had been allocated from an online booking. Service was excellent with attentive staff. Whilst the food on the set menu was very good, it did feel a tad expensive. 2 covers; 2 courses, 2 large glasses of wine & 2 double espresso £110

We had a superb meal - to be candid this a restaurant rather than a gastropub. My starter of clam chowder showed the skill of the chef: no flour, hit of sweetcorn, tasty fish which wasn't over cooked and a real depth of creamy flavour. Beautifully presented. Best clam chowder I've ever had (and I have been to Boston). My main of chicken breast that was broiled and finished on et char grill was equally exceptional. Great flavour and served a bed of roasted new potatoes and green veg with a sauce and a gravy, all beautifully presented (again). The ambience is great: lively but not noisy, a definite local and handy for the theatre, all set off by crisp white linen and sparkling cutlery and glassware. Thank you very much - we won't be looking any further next time we are in Richmond!

Lovely pub and dining room. We were seated upstairs in a lovely room with an outside terrace. Will definitely go back when it’s warmer to sit outside. It’s a large and varied menu and drinks list. The staff are welcoming and friendly.
