It is always a pleasure to dine at SY Kitchen! Fabulous specialty cocktails and the black truffle pizza is always our shared starter. If you like truffle, order it! Tonight, we also shared the pea salad - it used to be on the menu but was a special tonight - it is so fresh and delicious. I had the specialty pasta which was a tagliatelle with wild boar ragu. So flavorful. Hubby had the steak special and our friends did the same thing - one with the pasta and one with the steak. We all enjoyed it. To round out the evening we had the tiramisu and affagatos. The tiramisu is light and airy, and you can’t go wrong with affogato! We sat on the heated patio so it was quieter and quite nice for conversation. Our server, Victoria, was great.

Food was solid with mostly hits but a few misses. Generally it was nice experience on our trip to the area from the east coast.

Loved SY Kitchen! We had the cauliflower to start, pappardelle with mushrooms, and sausage and burrata pizza. No notes. 10/10!

We had drinks the Cesar salad, mushroom pappardelle, and sliders. All exceeded expectations. Delicious!!! We finished our meal with the pistachio crème brûlée which was a HUGE disappointment. It didn’t taste like pistachios in fact it didn’t have any distinguishable favor. In addition the texture was not silky smooth and slightly wobbly in the center. It was like thick sludge. A disappointing way to end the meal. Next time we we will stick with the tiramisu in a jar, which is the best dessert on the menu.

We were recommended this restaurant by a local. The food and ambiance was ok. Nothing special. We started with the bursts and prosciutto - very nice dish with a large portion of the ham. It had some pickled small onions that were delicious! Next we had the special orange and date salad. This was disappointing. The salad was a spinach salad with a few square pieces of orange sprinkled on it and a few dates. I would not all this an orange and date salad. You definitely did not get orange and/or date in many bites. I had asked the waiter about gluten free options and he told me no problem. So I ordered the sausage pasta with the gluten free pasta. (They did not have a gluten free pizza option - apparently the Italian chef does not approve!). Anyway, I had the gluten free pasta and I have to say that was the best gluten free pasta I’ve had in the States so far. The texture was very much like the real thing and one would never know it was gluten free unless told. So that was a big plus. The dish was delicious! Loved the sausage ragú. Everything was fine to this point. When the bill came I was surprised that there was an upcharge of $5 for the gluten free pasta. Really? I was never informed of this. At that point, this dish when from being a $28 pasta dish to a $33 pasta dish. That’s ridiculous! I don’t mind uocharges but I do mind not being informed of them in advance. That is not a good business practice. Especially $5. And this pasta dish was certainly not worth $33 no matter how good. Come on. This is pasta with a sausage ragú. We paid the bill. We didn’t bring it up to the waiter. I just don’t think we would have been very open to discussing it and I didn’t feel comfortable doing so. In the end I would probably not go back. There are plenty of other very good restaurants in the area and they do not charge undercover gluten free replacements fees. The food wasn’t such a standout that it warranted a return. It was just average - tasty, but not outstanding.

As always, our dining experience at S Y Kitchen was wonderful. John always remembers us, and Matthew came by even though he was not our waiter. The yellow beet salad is always a must, and we had the beef short rib pasta, and the house made sausage pasta. We done at SY Kitchen whenever possible on our way to Paso Robles or SLO
