Sushi Sasabune offers a unique Omakase-style sushi experience. We specialize in using as much local fish as possible, creating a meal that can be found nowhere else in the world! Sasabune is a specialty sushi restaurant, meaning we do not serve tempura, noodles, California rolls etc. All nigiri are served with its own unique sauce and topping, meant to be eaten as is. In the words of head chef and owner Seiji Kumagawa, "Trust me!"

Excellent service and dining experience. Every bit of the omakase was beyond delicious and the flavor profiles were so inventive and refreshing. Beyond impressed & cannot wait to go back.

Sushi Sasabune Omakase is THE BEST sushi dining value in America. I was served 25 courses of fresh fish flown in from all over the world. Actually, 1 of the courses was the miso soup served at the end of the meal, which is the chef’s own personal recipe. And shocker, it wasn’t salty like almost all miso soups. To love sushi and to never try the Omakase at Sasabune is a crime. Furthermore, the service is as good as you’ll find at any Michelin Star restaurant! And to all the haters out there…no, I wasn’t paid or asked to write this review. I’m just a guy who LOVES sushi, and knows a steal of a deal when I eat one!

This was a lovely dining experience. Each course a surprise as the entire meal is chef’s choice. Prepare to fast before your reservation. We had 14 courses. The food is superb, the best sushi and Japanese dishes we have ever had. So many interesting options I wouldn’t have tried otherwise. The waitstaff is old school. Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and generally really good at everything they do. We would highly recommend this restaurant to others.

Sushi Sasabune will spoil you for sushi almost anywhere else. The flavors, textures, and presentation of the servings were very fine. Staff were cordial and helpful. Plan for an expensive evening.

Excellent. Best omakase we’ve had in the states and right up there with our experiences in Tokyo. Rice was very good. Fish was excellent quality with good variety locally and imported from Japan and elsewhere. Some very creative dishes and sauces. Honolulu is not usually a destination for us in Hawaii, but now there is good reason for us to return!

Sushi Sasabune is by far favorite sushi restaurant in Hawaii!! Been coming here for over twenty years and it is always so special, so perfectly delicious. It's an experience with each course an incredible, unique flavor and texture. If you're a fan of sushi, don't miss it!
