After 14-plus years, St. Jack has become an iconic staple of the PDX dining scene, in the wonderfully walkable "Slabtown" neighborhood of NW Portland. Chef and restaurateur Aaron Barnett's unique menu features rustic dishes from the countryside of Lyon - the heart and soul of French cooking.

We are excited to offer full service inside, as well as outside on our sidewalk tables (weather permitting). We also allow walk-up guests as space allows - Fridays and Saturdays it is highly recommended to make reservations.

Our full menu is also available at the bar counter.

Great food and service. Very patient and informative when we struggled to pick some small plates and cheeses for our meal! Server was spot on with recommendation!

Always love St. Jack! My two favorites Tartare and Escargot were recently changed. The Tartare was fantastic, but I hope they go back to the previous way of doing Escargot. Finished the meal with Absinthe which was an amazing experience! Overall a lovely evening and still my Portland favorite.

This restaurant was listed by the New York Times as one of the 25 best restaurants in Portland, so we had to try it. The place had an energetic vibe with its open kitchen, and it was packed with diners. The food was beyond excellent - one of the best dinners we've ever had in Portland.

Noisy and cramped. Tables so close together that whenever a waiter or waitress were serving the adjoining ones, their backsides were constantly in our food or drinks. My steak was ordered medium well. I was told the extra cooking time would result in a half hour wait. Over 45 minutes later, it was served and was still medium rare. My wife ordered the steelhead and, while she thought it tasted very good, it was a very small portion. The prices are exorbitant for the service, portion size and ambiance provided.

St. Jack’s cuisine is creative and delicious. The escargot in pastry was perfect. Diners had absolutely the best ever steelhead salmon and the rare steak and frites looked and tasted like it had been prepared in Paris. Excellent Roquefort cheese, olives and French bread rounded out the experience. Wine list is comprehensive. Great evening for the family.

Overpriced for the quality you get. My salmon was raw in the middle. When asked to get it cooked a bit more, the waiter said that he might have forgotten to mention that it’s medium rare! Who serves medium rare salmon? When it came back, they had removed and disposed of the crispy skin and taken off the garnish’s and replaced with dill.

From the moment we walked in the door, courteous staff gracefully tended to our every need. Sit at the kitchen counter if you can - and don't hesitate to ask questions of the culinary team to understand their art.

A terrific place to experience some modern takes on French cooking. Had a delicious and inventive scallops crudo to start along with recommended cocktails. For main plates, we had breaded tripe (a bit salty for my taste, but my wife enjoyed it) and mussels in a rich brown broth—so good. The service was perfect and the dining experience altogether charming.
