   On our second visit to Shanghai Terrace dim sum was excellent as were the fried scallops. Same with strawberry cake dessert. Kung Poa chicken not so much with the meat overcooked. Mild seasoning does not need to be tasteless. Service was outstanding. The space continues to be beautiful.

   Fourth time here. Felt rushed and felt like we were not appreciated because we did not order drinks or wine. I eventually had a drink but our rapid fire meal was already in progress. Couple at next table was drinking wine and was allowed to slow roll their dining experience. Food is good and prices are steep but that is expected given location in a five star hotel. I’m just not sure if I’d return again. Chicago had a great many good places to dine.

   Our waiter was wonderful! However I needed to change the reservation from 4 to 6. No one ever answered the phone. I left a message with the hotel and still no response. I went to the Pennisula 4 days before our reservation and the male host seemed annoyed with my request. He tried to put me upstairs and only moved us to the restaurant when I said we may cancel. When we showed up they weren’t ready for us and yet we had the first hour reservation and the restaurant wasn’t full. The experience and food were lovely but the front of the house service was not impressive!

    Absolutely incredible experience. This was our first time dining at Shanghai Terrace and won’t be the last. Best Kung Pao I’ve ever had. Everything we ordered was great and the service was superb. I’m still thinking about dinner last night. Can’t wait to go back.
