Sasa is a Japanese inspired restaurant in Walnut Creek. Izakaya Restaurants are traditional small plate restaurants where friends go to have a drink and unwind after a long day. Situated in the historic 100 year old building that for many years housed the Walnut Creek Meat Market, this architectural jewel has been transformed into a ambiance that wows and invites guests to stay and enjoy the dining experience at SASA. Chef Philip Yang prepare Japanese influenced dishes from around the world. The staff welcomes you into their house and offers up comfort, hospitality and fun. The restaurant includes a full bar with a large Sake selection, outdoor patio, sushi bar and a commitment to fresh local seasonal faire.

Always the best, freshest and creative rolls and nigiri sushi anywhere in the Diablo Valley. Not cheap but worth it. And Chris is a great, classy, attentive waiter who make Sasa a memorable experience

The service was frustratingly slow—our server took 10 minutes to arrive, followed by another 15 minutes just to get a cocktail. The ambiance in the back room left much to be desired. Depending on your table, it might be passable, but ours was cramped to the point where we had to physically move the table to let others pass. This was after being relocated from our first table, which was inconveniently placed right next to a constantly swinging kitchen door. The food itself was good, but with so many excellent new dining options in Walnut Creek, I doubt I’ll return for dinner. The bar is normally great, so I might consider stopping by for cocktails in the future.

One of our favorite places - food is consistently great… esp the sushi. Don’t miss the green tea crème brûlée for dessert - it’s awesome!

Fantastic!! Always a great experience at Sasa. The food is not only delicious, but beautifully plated as well. The ambience is so sexy….the dim lights, low noise level and beautiful blue water wall with bubbles floating upwards - it’s mesmerizing. And then there’s the service; it’s first class. Servers are very attentive. I always feel very well taken care of and leave feeling happier 😊

Bad service. Very slow. Server was bad at coming back for drinks. My daughter called ahead and paid for a special anniversary dessert which was not acknowledged or served.

We among the few outside. It was very pleasant, but they had a propensity to forget us. Food was great, maybe a little pricey, but it was delicious! We’ll be back soon, but may try sitting inside.
