Please note we are a small restaurant and children (babies) need to me accounted for in your reservation if you need seating/highchair. Stroller space is limited and may not always be accommodated.

As always this place is incredible for a small Japanese venue with servers and hostesses and cooks who greet you on check-in and never let up on their delicate attention to every need. I've seldom come across this level and high standards of care and warmth shown to the customer. Not just my family.....but everyone. Edmonds' restaurants are known for their homey atmosphere and neighborly bent towards old and new faces, but San Kai (along with Epulo Bistro, Salt & Iron, Bar Dojo & Claire'x Panty, all make traveling downtown or Ballard or Greenwood or Belltown for a fine dining night to be difficult. We can talk to the locals and still have a 5-star meal. The owner of SanKai and his wife and family are a gift to the Edmonds/Shoreline/Seattle diners. Hard to beat.

Isaac was a very attentive and respectful server. He even gave my daughter extra ginger when he realized how much she enjoyed it. The food was excellent and everyone had a great time. We will definitely be back next time we are in Seattle

Service was immaculate, our server was attentive without hovering. She spotted an error in what we had been served before we did and had it swiftly corrected. We had the shishito peppers, geoduck, and omakase. The pacing was perfect, we were able to enjoy each part of the course without feeling rushed. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. 14/10 would recommend.

I go here frequently for years and love it . On this one occasion my go-to roll legend of kaju was soggy. Not sure what happened. It’s never happened before and my husband’s roll was excellent as usual.

Umi Sake House is a unique Japanese cuisine restaurant in the Belltown area of Seattle featuring the highest quality seafood available in the Northwest, a large izakaya-style tapas menu, and boasting a sake list of over 60 imported Japanese bottles. The interior is multi-faceted, with a black slate tiled traditional dining room, a gorgeous 14 person capacity wooden sushi bar, a semi private "tatami" room which holds 12 people, a larger 25 person private dining room, an enclosed "back patio" casual dining room complete with tropical garden, a black concrete liquor bar with custom sake cocktails and fusion traditional cocktails. The variety of atmospheres allows for a different experience with every visit, and the vastness and quality of the menu does the same. For the budding sake enthusiast or the seasoned veteran, the sake menu at Umi is bottle for bottle the best found anywhere outside of Japan!

One of our party was running late. It was a Tuesday night, so not as busy as usual. Our waiter was awesome and let us hang out and wait for our 4th person to join us for drinks and dessert. We happily ordered an extra roll and another round of drinks while we waited and tipped well in gratitude.
