I came here with my husband and family who was visiting us from out of town. I ordered the fried chicken and the butterbeans/rice. The fried chicken was very greasy. It seemed like they fried it and immediately plated it after taking it out the grease. There was a grease puddle on the plate. The butter beans and rice were great. The cornbread was surprisingly COLD. It did not have a hint of warmth. Maybe that is how they serve it because everyone in my party of four had cold cornbread. The other people in my party shared similar sentiments about the chicken. This meal was disappointing to say the least.

Definitely enjoyed Willie Mae’s NOLA food and new location on Barrone in the CBD. SHALENA was a great wait person. So very different from Willie Mae’s Scotch House on St Anne in Treme…and the line we used to wait in to get inside. Now they take reservations. WOWZA!

While taking our first trip to NOLA, we were fortunate enough to dine at Willie Mae’s. Luckily, they reopened just a few weeks ago on Barronne. The hospitality was excellent, food was unbelievably delicious, and ambiance was very relaxing. All staff were very welcoming, with speedy service and friendly smiles. My wife and I ordered the 1/2 chicken, gumbo, chicken and eggs, and a house salad. The gumbo was full of flavor. The chicken was the best we have ever had. Light, crispy, juicy with a unique airy batter. They put a unique spin on their deviled eggs which we both enjoyed. I would highly recommend this legendary restaurant to anybody. We also met a couple from MS who had frequented the Scotch House in prior trips. I asked how this new place held up and they replied “the setting is very different but the chicken is still just as good as the Scotch House”. Enjoy!

Five stars! Highly recommend! The same chicken I've always loved at the old location. Once again I felt like I had died and gone to fried chicken heaven! Gumbo so delicious that when I had eaten it all I wanted to pick up the empty owl and lick it. And the praline bread pudding... no words for how heavenly it is. If you go, ask for Regan. He was our server and is a New Orleans ray of sunshine. Very lovely interior, and cool vibe in this new location. One of the best experiences I've had in any New Orleans restaurant EVER.

Could not see any exterior sign for the restaurant. Finally found it and waited in the front of house with no acknowledgment, welcome, nod, "just a moment" or anything for over 10 minutes. A gentleman walked past us multiple times, clearing tables, busing the bar, anything but looking at the front area. We had a reservation which they were surprised about when they asked. It seemed that things were just not running well, and the communication was non-existent. Our food came out at different times, mine first and my husband's several minutes later. We had to ask for silverware. Our server was pleasant but spread too thin. The food was average, creme brûlée was gritty. It was an overall fail in our book. The reviews speak otherwise which is the reason we booked. Sad we did not have a good experience at all from start to finish.

Lovely space, great food. Service needs polishing. Ran out of items at 6pm. I think they are working out new opening kinks.

They are just a few days in at the new location & we had a great experience. The chicken & sides were phenomenal! We ordered the cream brûlée for dessert but the custard wasn’t set- it was pretty runny so we didn’t want to eat it. They took it off the bill. Service was perfect.
