   Arrived well early of our reservation time but were seated promptly. Parking was a breeze in a large closely located lot. Lauren our server, made excellent libation recommendation’s and then proceeded to the bar and created them. The salads, Entrees, and Desserts were all marvelous. The eatery is warm cozy and well appointed. Every one of the staff we encountered were cheerful and welcoming. We greatly enjoyed this occasion and have already planned a return visit.

   We enjoyed our visit to Verbena. They have a nice wine list with a mix of US, Euro, and SA wines. The wines by the glass is extensive and bottle costs go from reasonable to let's celebrate And blow the budget. The food is well prepared and tasty. I had the wedge which is presented differently than tradition and has a cheddar dressing instead of blue cheese. My wife started with the beet salad and enjoyed it. My entree was the curry cod and it was the best seafood dish I've had in a long time (if fact I will try to recreate it at home for friends). My wife had the tortellli and again it was a solid dish. I would be remiss to not mention that our server was delightful. She made sure we understood the menu, made recommendations, and was attentive but not intrusive. The meal was well timed giving us opportunity to relax and enjoy the wine and the experience. The overall price point was more than a typical date night but less than break the bank. Highly recommend.

   Food was excellent, but the cocktails (especially the Manhattan made with the Verbena single barrel Union Horse Rye) were outstanding.

   Exceptional experience. First time visit too. Fantastic food. Great service. The Holladay single barrel bourbon is phenomenal. Will be back!!

   Verbena is a somewhat hidden gem. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the KC area. We haven't had one bad dish here, the service is always great, and the drinks are phenomenal (my current fav is the Ch-Ch-Cherry Bomb, which is the best Mezcal cocktail I've ever had). We also can never stray from the chocolate layer cake, which is not going to be what you think (it is better). It's very balanced in both texture and flavors, my favorite being the sweet + salty crunch from a bit of delicate toffee flakes. Also, don't sleep on the house rolls - you might think "I'm paying for rolls?!" but they are some of the best rolls you'll ever have! Of course, can't forget the ambience and the stunning location. This last visit, we indicated it was our anniversary and we got a nice card at our table signed by all the staff. Can't wait for it to warm up just a bit more so we can enjoy the lovely patio.

    Verbena is consistently outstanding. The Kansas City dining scene is better with Verbena here.
