Kitchen was backlogged and brunch was around one hour to table after ordering. There was not a lot of communication about the challenge with the customers in the restaurant. Our server tried but he was a little inundated. Typically a great experience, not so much Sunday, March 9th.

This is my third time eating here and I forgot about the time it takes to get your food. We arrived at 9:15 am for breakfast. Seated properly (A/C was blasting so it was cold - other patrons still had their jackets on). The hostess brought us water after about 10 min being seated and not having been greeted by our server. :(. The restaurant was about 1/4 full at best. Our server came about 15-20 min after being served and asked if we wanted anything other than water to drink (just 1 coffee please) ......15 more minutes until that came. Then he took our order. One appetizer of biscuits and our breakfast order. The biscuits came out after 5 min and then the wait for chicken & waffles, scrambled egg, grits, sausage began. 35 minutes later our food arrived. Maybe a check back after another 15 min. I really want to love this place - the ambiance is great, the fried chicken and waffles are good, the biscuits....rather hard and they were cold. It's just the service takes sooooooooo long to be acknowledged and and to wait for the food on a rather empty restaurant just kinda kills the vibe.

I had read previous reviews about the service so I went in expecting it to be slow but hoping to be surprised. I gave service a 2-star because the staff was friendly and because we were a larger party of 8 but wow I was still shocked at how long we waited for our food. That being said, the food was excellent! If their food takes longer because of the preparation then a notice on the menu would go a long way towards expectations! I will probably return with smaller party to give the restaurant another shot.

I will start with they made it right by reducing the bill. Saturday at 4 pm and 6 of us. We sat down and waited 15 minutes and then want to the front and found someone who said they’d get someone to take care of us. A girl came promptly and said she’d take care of us for now. Not sure what that meant but she was very nice. Ordered quickly as we wanted to get to a game. Note we left more than enough time but making up for the wait to get the order in. Food took longer than average and one persons food did not come out until we were all done. By then we shared with him and sent his food back. I typically like Tupelo and I’ll give them grace once but it might be a bit before I am brave enough to return.

We have dined at this location before. We were seated immediately despite being a bit early for our reservation. We each had a cocktail: a honey margarita and an orange old fashioned. The drinks had good flavors, but the Old Fashioned was the better of the two. For an appetizer we ordered the fried pickles and they were hot, crispy and delicious. We both chose the chicken tender entree. I had the goat cheese grits for my side and my husband had the mixed green salad, both sides were delicious. We enjoyed our meals and will definitely return.

Spicy chicken sandwich was very good. The lemon vinaigrette salad dressing was very good too, nice and light but with a good flavor. Our server was great, I don’t remember eat his name but he took great care of our table.
