Tosca serves Italian cuisine with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients, using a creative approach that respects the great traditions of Tuscan gastronomy. Tosca combines modern style and elegance to create an intimate and comfortable setting.

    We did a date night at Tosca and took advantage of the fresh Truffles they were featuring. This was not the typical microscopic truffle shaving you get elsewhere- they really expended some truffles. Starting with a beef carpaccio with endive and truffles- amazing. I was lucky enough to score a veal chop - perfectly prepared and portioned just right. Of course the truffles just bring out the best. The starter courses were two delightful pastas- one of which was all egg yolks- no water. Perfect. Tosca has become our #1 destination restaurant- the ambiance and service are worthy of a star or two. Jonathon and Brian really go the extra mile to make the experience memorable.

    Our waiter was superb. Great recommendations on wine and specials. We had an amazing Pino Nero from Alto Aldige. Polenta, mushroom, and cheese appetizer was superb. The four of us split two plates. The special pasta with pumpkin seeds and brown butter sauce was amazing. All pastas were amazing. Go and ask waiter for recommendations.

    Service from our waiter today was just Ok- The other wait staff was wonderful- management always fantastic! Waiter never offered us anything to drink and barely suggested a salad option- not the usual good service.

    Still the best true Italian restaurant in the DC area, IMHO. I am half Italian and I visit my Mother in Milan 3 times per year. I can’t think of another DC-area restaurant to which I would take an Italian friend.

    Amazing focaccia bread. My wife and I had Pasta dishes which were good but not live up to their price. My wife had the cavatelli which we both felt should have had more sausage for $30. The tiramisu was excellent and the chief house cookies were good. The staff was very polite but we had to flag them down for refills on our drinks and to actually order our desert. Overall, a very good restaurant that we will return to but for $30-50/plate I expect a bit more. To cut the restaurant a little slack,I do think their prices are based on their high rent downtown location.
