   Arrived at 6:30 and order for food wasn’t taken till 7:15… food still didnt show up at 7:50 and had to cancel order and leave without eating to make out 8pm show. Very disappointed.

   Tlahcos is a unique restaurant with exceptionally good food. The menu is a little more expensive than traditional Mexican restaurants, but its flavor has Mayan roots with different ingredients. You’ll find some traditional Mexican dishes, but most are different than you can find anywhere else. I was skeptical until I tasted one of the examples. I had Mayahuel. Sautéed pork carnitas with shrimp in a blend of caramelized onions, pineapple, and coconut sauce. Served with black beans, rice and tortillas. My wife had Alambre. It is a blend of sautéed chicken or steak, bacon, bell peppers and onions, generously smothered in melted cheese. Also accompanied by a side of rice and black beans with zesty salsa Xalapa. Delicious. Margaritas are small, but very tasty. I recommend you try Tlahcos. Pronounced like “taco”, but with an “L” sound.

   So everything was going just fine till it came time to pay for the bill. We had a $10 off $60 or more coupon that is one of theirs that came in a local coupon book. We handed to the server, and she said . I can't take the coupon. There is no manager here to take the coupon off. As a previous restaurant owner. I knew someone had to be in charge if I wasn't there. Someone has to be able to override the computer in order to take off the coupon or food, etc.. off the bill. So she said there's no one there. So, our experience went from a very day to a not a pleasant experience. I have a really hard time to believe no one was there. God forbid if there was an actual emergency. Sad, because it is these kinds of experiences that will destroy a new business.

   Had requested standard seating for 6. Was seated in the bar area on a "high top." High noise level. Once you sat in your chair, you could not move the chairs up to the table. Food service (kitchen) was very fast. Unfortunately, the food was too smokey in flavor. The server spoke way too fast to be understood. When we asked for our check, it took forever to get them. On a positive note, the Sangria was outstanding. Been there, done that. Not high on my return list.

   Alec was awesome! He was very attentive and let us know the kitchen was a little behind. Food was excellent! Can’t wait to go back!
