   I’ve had a few roast dinners recently mostly in London. And I have to say this one was not memorable at all. They had run out of the starter we wanted, no sides were available all gone. The roast itself was average but only green vegetables, not a carrot or parsnip in sight. Not a lot of meat either: on the skimpy side for a roast. The gravy was gloopy. And the puddings were all cold in the middle. Well below par.

   Was really disappointed this time coming back! I really loved the roast last time and had a great meal. Unfortunately this time, my partner wanted the steak & we was told 3 times he had to change from a sirloin to a rump as they didn’t have it. Then someone come over and said they didn’t have the rump either! So we had to change to another steak but they charged us extra! Food and drink took a long time to come out and the service wasn’t great either. I’m really disappointed as I had a lovely experience the time before! We paid £100 for the bill and do not think it was worth it at all.

   Very busy had to move table due next book which is fine (pub busy) people Who have dogs they can’t control Food excellent Ordered cilia of tea - little milk Boyle Left mark in cup - but waitress quick to change it Otherwise would return again

   Service was brilliant, all of the staff were very attentive and the waitress for our table was very warm towards us all, and knew the menu well. A lovely evening and great food too.

   The White Horse is our go to when we don’t feel like cooking dinner and our most recent experience did not disappoint. Everyone in the group was very happy with their meal - super tasty and the perfect amount of food. Good selection of wines as well

   Had three different servers. The original server completely forgot to order side dishes. When chased, no one apologised (took ownership) and as we finished the main meal, still without side dishes, we cancelled them. Staff were non-plussed. Pity as food was nice but won't be returning in a hurry

   I only discovered this restaurant the night before we visited on Friday 22 November. The weather was very cold but the online images and reviews were very warm! Our overall experience was well worth the 35 mile round trip! From start to finish everything was exceptional! Even the background music was to our taste and at a perfect level. We will definitely be returning and thoroughly recommend this local gem.

   We arrived on Sunday around 5.30pm to a bustling restaurant. The atmosphere was great - busy but not too loud, happy staff keen to make our visit good and importantly, delicious food. We’re booking for next week!

    Still one of the best places in harpenden for a quality delicious meal in wonderful surroundings and great service .
