I would rate it higher but our food took almost 2 hours to be brought to the table , other than that everything was great !

Cod was good. Wine was good. Seafood pasta was worth maybe $2. Not $36. Very very little seafood, very very bland. Had to walk up to the hostess to get bill as service was painfully slow.

We stayed at the Josie for opening night of ski season at Red. The hotel was phenomenal but the Velvet was...pretty terrible. To start with, it's the only food in the mountain open past 7, which conveniently opened at 7pm that night. We had been planning this dinner for a few days, but upon being seated we were informed that they only had a partial menu that evening with appetizers and a burger as our options. At this point, everything else was closed within 30 minutes of us, so we literally had no other options. When asked why this wasn't on the website or OpenTable where the reservation was made, we were told to check their "social media" which was a Facebook page with 27 likes (they have easier to find pages but they have been "retired" We ordered chicken wings, fries and two burgers. The chicken wings were so overcooked that they were barely edible. Somehow the fries were undercooked but nearly burnt? We got seated at 7:05, we're greeted by our server at 7:25, received our order at 7:50, got a takeout box at 8:15, got our check at 8:45. They weren't overly busy and we watched our server converse with coworkers in between visits. Finally, they had live music across the restaurant but it was so loud we couldn't have a conversation at our table. You could hear it all the way on the 5th floor. Overall a terrible experience at this restaurant. I would advice anyone staying at the Josie to pack food or stop at the grocery store in Rossland before you check in.

November 29, 2024 3 couples: flat steak, duck, hamburger, cod, vegetarian (veg rissoto & Tuscan salad, and seafood pasta. Everyone raved about their choice; plenty of food; taste created carefully and intentionally. Our server was a delight. Desserts were very well received. We chose Basque Cheese Cake. It was divine.

Good service, nice drinks, but one of the entrees ordered left a lot to be desired. The short rib pasta was very bland and a disappointment, especially considering the price.

This is a lovely restaurant with a beautiful view. Service was excellent. My husband ordered the flank steak and loved it. I ordered the Halibut and it was dry and flavorless. If we’re in Rossland again we would give it another try.

Overall the experience was great. Beautiful restaurant, Evan our server was great. Friendly, knowledgeable. The food was pretty ok. I hold a higher end restaurant such as this to a higher standard especially when a plavmce is asking the money they are. Cocktails Evan made were tasty as well. We had the Albacore. It looked wonderful and flavors we great, fish was fresh tasting. The only with that plate was I felt the Korhabi (wrong spelling) was cut to large and touch away from the softness of the rest of the dish. If they were sliced thin it would add a crunch but still feel elegant. Seasoned will. Our mains were the Seafood Risotto. Nice amount of seafood, mussels were very tasty with flavors I was uncertain about in a good way. Halibut. Large beautiful piece of Halibut that was slightly over cooked, however tasty and fresh, beurre blanc was beautiful, veggies were great. However I felt the lentals were very salty ( I like salt) but they over powered the rest of the dish and I had to push them aside. ( I would have committed in person however I was with my wife on our anniversary and I just wanted to be thankful as the night was beautiful and had a great time. We had the Creme Brule. The custard was cooked perfectly and great flavour. However the sugar on top was to dark to the point of basically burnt in areas. On a side note when walking by the kitchen window I noticed the equipment was very dirty and that was probably my low point. The back of one piece of equipment by the deep fryer and as well the boiler( I think it was) edgeswere both very brown to the point of black. As well the salad station I think out front was left dirty on a slow night, the glass was also dirty. I have been to many high end restaurants. This is not expectable in such a restaurant. Especially one that is not that old and in a hotel of a high standard. On another side note, I did not enjoy the bed and or the pillows ( very cheap pillow for a Marriott) my wife like the bed.
