The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

If its a night out with friends, an intimate dinner for two, or just something extraordinary like sitting at our chefs table, We take each day as a new challenge to provide something amazing. It’s a bold statement and that’s why we make it with The Standard.

    The Chef's table is a 7-course, exclusive blind Tasting Menu, composed of the best of the season. These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to how it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride. Elevate your experience with pairings from our reserve wine list or a mixology pairing form our bar team. Please note that we are unable to accommodate vegetarian, dairy/egg allergies, seafood allergies or aversions to raw meat/seafood.     A gem in downtown Hamilton, short walk from FirstOntario Hall. The waiters were very attentive to our needs and the food was as promised or even better. The carrots additions were delightful and so were the duck and octopus risotto. A must go to and wish we can back. I would love to have such place in Toronto.

    Food, Service and Atmosphere was spectacular. We ordered the calamari and the focaccia to start. Both apps were super delicious and hands down the best focaccia i’ve ever had. Our mains this evening were the 72 hour Short Rib and the salmon. The short rib was a perfect medium being super tender and rich in flavour. The salmon was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. Cocktails were all great, i highly recommend the cereal killer clarified milk punch! Our sever was attentive, personable and made the night even more enjoyable.

    The dinner and food were amazing. Large portions for the quality. Our service was attentive and respectful. It was way too loud for my date and trying to hear her as a more quiet talker. I wish it was quieter for a date night experience, but it was Friday night so I should have assumed it would be busy and loud. I'd go back for the food any day.
