We’ve been trying to get a table here for a while, so were pleased to finally visit. The location is great, just off the high street, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. Service was attentive throughout, which we appreciated. That said, the food was a bit of a mixed bag. While we understand this isn’t strictly a tapas restaurant, the menu feels stuck between two concepts — trying to offer a bit of everything rather than focusing in one direction. As a result, the tapas selection was limited. We ordered most of the available small plates. The prawns and the black pudding with chorizo were the standout dishes — full of flavour and well cooked. Unfortunately, the beetroot risotto was disappointing: over-salted and lacking any real depth of flavour. The beef was a real let-down — dry, tough, and simply overcooked. We mentioned it to the server, but there was no offer of replacement or follow-up, which felt like a missed opportunity. The wine list was short but had a solid selection of both reds and whites. In summary: great setting, good service, and a few standout dishes — but the food overall was inconsistent and the menu needs more clarity in direction. With a bit more focus, this place could be excellent.

Loved this little place. It was quiet when I was there as I was dinning early due to a train I was catching. I would recomnend the Selkie - warm welcome, friendly staff, fab food & good service. Would recommend the tapas menu especially the Sea Bass in the tomato sauce.

There were 3 of us, seated next to the door, at a table for 2. So it was a bit of a squash, and we had to keep shutting the door after other customers entered or left. These things were slightly off putting. The service was excellent, however, and the food was delicious. The restaurant is warm and welcoming, and we weren't rushed at all. Altogether, a really nice experience. We'll definitely go again, but will request a larger table away from the door, if possible.
