Since welcoming its first guests in 1773, The Red Lion Inn has earned a reputation for outstanding food and genuine country hospitality. Those traditions are continued today by Executive Chef Jon Sterrett, whose kitchen features contemporary cuisine that is rooted in the region's history and harvests. Emphasizing the use of fresh, local ingredients and a huge proponent of buying locally and sustaining the region, Chef Sterrett regularly updates the Inn's menus to reflect the bounty of each season. Guests choose from the elegant Main Dining Room and the cozy Widow Bingham's Tavern. The wine list offers 500 plus selections, and has received the Wine Spectator best of Award of Excellence for ten consecutive years; Sommelier Tim Eustis helps pair wines with meals. If you would like to dine in the Tavern, please choose Bar when making your reservation.

We enjoyed a special birthday lunch at the Red Lion Inn. The dining room was tastefully decorated for the Holidays. And the salad wedge, chicken pot pie and Red Lion blended red wine were a perfect complement to a winter afternoon.

Really love the red line in. The ambience is wonderful and the service impeccable. My husband’s steak free was excellent and he enjoyed his wedge salad. I really like the clam chowder, but the turkey sandwich was a bit dry and the way they cut it looked almost manufactured. I added stuffing to the sandwich for an additional two dollars and it was cut almost too perfect in a square flat shape like it was pre-bought that way. The pecan pie and the warm caramel cake. We’re both excellent as well.

We dined at the Red Lion Inn this afternoon. Our immediate seating and welcome was appreciated. Orders were taken for drinks. Questions were answered promptly. Highly recommend this establishment.

We only wish there were more people serving drinks and taking orders in the common area while listening to music because the bar gets crowded and the wait is a bit long. Otherwise we love The Red Lion Inn

Great service with informative and friendly, not officious delivery, made for a great experience in the Tavern. Our server was terrific, food was tasty and the ambience remains funky. Dinner Saturday an all around great experience, thanks mainly to our friendly server. We will be back!

Honored reservation on time, though busy day. Place looks tired, needs repairs badly. Food just okay. Service was fair. Would return if in the area, but not make special trip to eat or stay there. Historically important, but desperately needs TLC.

We called ahead to confirm our 5:30 reservation for 12/26 in the dining room. We arrived dressed festively and respectably for the holidays to a noisy and chaotic scene with not a single staff person around the lobby area to greet us or any of the many other guests (many walking around poorly dressed in hoodies and sneakers) clamoring for attention. After being seated we were promptly attended to by an appropriately cheerful and remarkably competent young server. However the meal was a massive disappointment. The filet was served sans crust, butter or jus on a pile of dry mashed potatoes. The image marketing presents of the RLI and the prices it demands do not reflect the poor quality of the product. Major mismatch. Never again. Kudos though to our valiant young server who made the night palatable despite the systemic failures.
