Welcome to Geelong's oldest pub the Petrel Hotel!
We are a food focused pub and restaurant offering generous and genuine hospitality from the walls of a historic building.
Head chef Molly Fuge brings local and international flavours together with classic pub dishes like The Petrel Cheeseburger and Lemon Herb Crumbed Snapper + Chips. Glazed Beef Skewers with Mango Chimichurri are already a house staple, Oysters shucked to order with pomegranate granita and a perfect Lamb Rump sits atop heirloom tomatoes, black olive and green beans await you!
Join us in our light filled dining room dressed with paintings and treasures that nod to Australian pubs and county homes. Our grand wooden bar sits at solidly offering a home to wine with a focus on smaller Australian producers with a few international gems nestled between.     Beautiful fresh well cooked food. Great limoncello spritz. The prawns in the romesco sauce were superb and the octopus cooked perfectly

    The hospitality staff, specifically the gregarious female (B) with lots of rings, was outstanding. She was so friendly, and knowledgeable about the delicious food. She was attentive but not over the top. She was the highlight, with the delicious share plates coming a close second. The ambience was cool, as was the music and the decor. This was my first visit, and I will definitely be returning some time soon:) Thank you for a lovely experience.

    Service and food excellent, so a very enjoyable experience. A bit hard to converse properly, as a bit noisy, but that is not something you can control. Will definitely come again.

    Top restaurant quality food in a very old but modernised pub and efficient, friendly service. I had barbecued salmon with a chorizo and tomato sauce which was a combination I've never before tried before and it was outstanding! Probably the best salmon dish I've ever had at a pub. Others had the barbecued lamb rump which had a lovely smoky flavour. This might have been better paired with roast kipfler potatoes but the lamb itself was lovely. Will definitely be going back!!
