Located within Denver’s historic Tramway Building, originally opened in 1911, The Nickel pays homage to the space that was once used to collect fare from customers riding its resident streetcars: a nickel. Just as the building in which The Nickel is housed has a storied past, the dishes found on the menu at The Nickel all have a story. We proudly serve menus that incorporate the highest quality ingredients from farmers, ranchers, distillers and craft producers, and is comprised of dishes that are easily recognizable and feel simple, but eat complex.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
The Nickel offers a charming setting, perfect for pre-theater dining with its "wonderful service" and "delicious food." Patrons rave about its "amazing mushroom toast" and "delightful ambiance." However, some note limited menu options and occasional service delays. Its convenient location near DCPA makes it a favorite for theater-goers.

Love the Nickle. We eat here nearly every time we stay in the downtown area of Denver. Slightly quirky but delicious for Dinner, Brunch or Lunch.

You changed the Colorado Benedict. It used to be so unique compared to other restaurants with the has browns under the eggs, instead of an English muffin. Too bad...now you like everyone else. I miss the hash browns under the eggs with a salad on the side.

The Nickel is a great place to go for brunch especially when you are going to the symphony or a Broadway play. The wait staff is efficient and very good at getting you served in a timely manner so you can be on your way. Good food.

Dusty was attentive and served us well. He didn’t have all the answers but quickly got them. (Mostly from the bartender on whether a specific brand of vodka or other liquor was on their shelves.) The menu was slightly short, but pricing was in reason and portions surprisingly large. (Had to take the leftover Brussel sprouts home.) The guitarist/singer was a nice touch!

Great place for late breakfast or early lunch before the theater or symphony. Casual setting with tasteful, upscale vibe. Smaller venue provides a comfortable, intimate feel. Staff is always friendly, prompt, and attentive.

I was disappointed that they had removed a vegetarian omelette option from the new menu, but then the chef agreed to whip up a similar entree and it was delicious. Thanks for being flexible and accommodating.
