The Mussel & Steak Bar is dedicated to serving high quality, fresh and locally sourced seafood & steaks, with warm service and welcoming surroundings. Our restaurant is located at the bottom of Victoria Street in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, just a few steps from the historic Royal Mile. While enjoying the best mussels, oysters and steaks that Scotland has to offer, you can catch a glimpse of Edinburgh Castle from our window.
Our menu features classic seafood and steak favourites with seasonal Scottish specialties: fresh oysters, kilo pots of steamed mussels, shellfish platters and delicious matured Scotch beef steaks. Sourced from the West to North coast of Scotland you can expect to find seafood specials of lobsters, crabs, langoustines and scallops.

Amazing food, presented and taste was fantastic. Complimentary oysters were a nice touch. We had Cullen skink and scallops for starter, both excellent but the Cullen skink in particular was exceptional Mussels and sea bass for main course again both dishes were amazing. Would recommend

Yummy food - the oysters were divine followed by seafood linguine which was delicious. Great service with a smile. I will be returning.

Waiting staff very friendly and helpful. Starter arrived and was very good unfortunately there was a wait of over 45mins before our main course arrived. We also found the tables were very close together the 3 people on the table were very very loud and and it was unpleasant watching them eat and spitting food. Such a shame for all the staff.

I was expecting so much better so unfortunately I was disappointed. I think the chef needs to up his/her standards for the price expected to be paid. The service was good and attentive but the smell of the restaurant was not good. Seafood pasta was certainly not what it said on the menu, not a bouillabaisse base sauce. Disappointing. Nice touch with the free oyster per person but again so much bits of shell and not super fresh.

This is the one restaurant I always make sure I visit when in Edinburgh. It’s just over and above anything else. Don’t miss it!

Awesome meal. Great service. Complimentary oysters which was lovely surprise. Had salmon starter and fillet for main. Delicious, beautifully presented. Would recommend but book first as can be busy. So good came back the next night too!

This place is a hidden gem. They made my mam feel so special for her birthday. The food was beautiful and the staff so friendly. We will definitely be back when we next visit Edinburgh
