The Monocle is the closest restaurant to the Capitol building, United States Senate and Union Station. Established in 1960, The Monocle is not only known as a Washington institution, but also for its fine American cuisine-served by a professional and friendly team of servers. You can always count on being served great crab-cakes, grilled fresh fish, prime steaks and chops, while enjoying the powerful political scenery. The private Federal Room is a Washington classic for private parties and political fundraisers. The Wine Room is a cozy room for your intimate private birthday dinner of six to ten. Cheers!

A very historic Capital Hill dining experience. Service is impeccable and the food and drink never disappoints. You’ll see the walls adorned with pictures of politicians that have visited there, as well as famous inspirational quotes. It’s not uncommon to be seated among an elected official. 10/10

There is no more classic spot in Washington than The Monocle. I have been going there since childhood, had countless meals both for personal and professional occasions. What they all had in common was that they were divine. I cannot recommend this wonderful spot highly enough whether for lunch w/ friends, a professional meeting or a romantic dinner. They will never let you down.

Very disappointing experience. I have been here a few times and hosted a luncheon upstairs. This was a very different dining experience tonight.

I live in Capitol Hill and have been meaning to try The Monocle for some time. I’m glad I did! The restaurant was cozy, quiet with great service and excellent food. The price point is a good value for the quality.
