    Had reservation. Sat 30min later. Told we couldnt order appetizers first and had to order all food together. Ordered octopus, beef enchiladas, and shrimp tacos. Every piece of meat was dry and overcooked. Valet understaffed but at least allowed me to retrieve my own car which i appreciate. This place has ridden it’s hype and attracts a crowd but no longer values quality or service, especially at a steep price.

    El Rey margarita was very good. Chips and various salsas were also delish. Lobster elote was very good with plenty of large pieces of lobster. Ahi Mexicana was delish with a huge portion of tuna. Bone marrow and filet taco was terrible - meat had no seasoning and couldn’t taste the bone marrow at all. Grilled Scallop and shrimp was ok but both scallop and shrimp were overcooked and tough. There was a huge emphasis on reservation and subsequent confirmation about dress - elegant emphasized along with jacket recommended but not required for men. Don’t bother. No one ( but us) followed the request. Place was hopping on a Friday night - particularly the bar area so somebody thinks it’s ok or there are a lot of first timers like us. We won’t return. Plenty of good to great restaurants in Dallas and this one has nothing to make us return.

    Phenomenal experience with outstanding service and spectacular presentation and ambience. It couldn’t have been any better thank you to the wonderful staff at the Mexican for providing us with a positive memorable experience.
