   Everything was exceptional. Very attentive service, delicious sandwiches, good pastries, the rose tea was so good we went to buy some in the shop, the lemon custard and marmalade were amazing. I go to tea all over LA and this is top 5. It lived up to the hype.

   Food not worth for what you pay for. But the experience is good. Plus you get to go inside the library and other gardens.

   Hostesses unfriendly. How come they kept giving me worse seats in the house? I reserved for standard table and not outdoor but they led me to an outdoor table at an unshaded table… it was on/off overcast but UV rays strong. So they accommodated indoors and was seated at the table next to service door. Saving grace is that the server was Friendly and food delicious. Ambience lacking because av system malfunctions

   I was very disappointed. They offer a Gluten free version of the tea and I noted in my reservation, called ahead and confirmed before we were sat and with the waitress that they could do a children’s gluten free tea for my daughter. They said yes every time. What they brought us was a cut back version of the adult gluten free tea service. So instead of gluten-free peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a gluten-free ham and cheese sandwich, we got the gluten-free tomato sandwich and the gluten-free onion sandwich for a child. They didn’t even include the children’s desserts, which were mostly gluten-free naturally, like French macaroons and strawberries, but instead served a three-year-old child tapioca pudding, and a date bar. This was my birthday. I had done the due diligence on my side to make sure that it was an option for my daughter to have a gluten-free tea and it was extremely disappointing to spend $200 on what I’m sure is some thing that is made so far in advance that they couldn’t even slap some peanut butter and jelly on gluten-free bread. Of course the tea room is beautiful and despite the inability to communicate with customers, the service was nice and no one was rude but when they knew it was going to be an adult version of the gluten-free tea, they should’ve came out and told me and they did not.

   When I approached the hostess she seemed a little putout. I expected a better greeting being she is the first person you see. We were a little early and when we saw her again she was just as unpleasant as the first time . But when she showed us to our seat, and we reached the table she gave us what sounded as a general speech with a smile so it was very confusing. Out  server was very pleasant from the beginning. I was happy for that..

    great bubbly, sandwiches, desserts and tea; perfect service. Next time (there will definitely be a next time!) I would ask to keep the scones and add fruit (decrease the hard to dismiss desserts). thanks for a great bday photo! (servers are excellent photographers).
