Taking hospitality back to its roots with a warm welcome from our genuinely friendly team breathing new life back into the heart of the community.
The menu will offer daily, hyper-seasonal specials, and plenty of British game, meat and fish. Executive chef and owner, Jamie Dobbin is passionate about local sourcing and traditional dishes, such as Half dozen Porthilly rock oysters with shallot dressing, Brixham King scallops with burnt butter cauliflower and caviar or Portland hogget Shepherd’s pie with grilled cutlet.
Serious meat lovers can expect 45 day aged native and rare breed steak on offer as well as a hero dish of Beef Wellington for two. Fish is of course wild, sustainable, and British, sourced from day boats on the South coast with the daily catch delivered straight to the door in a matter of hours. There is a handsome bar menu too, and as always, Sunday roasts are a big fixture on the menu every week.

    Back for another year is Wokingham’s premier New Year’s Eve experience, Dine and Disco at The Greyhound. Throw on your finest attire with a black tie dress code positively encouraged (although not compulsory) and join us as we ring in the New Year in style! If you’d rather skip the dining and head straight to the disco then our Bar Ticket option is for you! Available for £10 per person, including a welcome glass of fizz, then you can just slide over to the dance floor and disco yourself all the way into 2025!

    We booked for Christmas Eve and had the festive menu and as always the food and service were excellent. Special mention for our waiter, Joe Lynskey, who was amazing. Thank you for a lovely evening.

    Lovely evening with friends, atmosphere was excellent so was the service! We had drinks and nibbles which was so nice. Thank you all for a wonderful experience. Only thing I can be negative about is parking! Probably the time of year getting towards Christmas.

    First time eating here and we had a lovely meal. Not too noisy. The front of house lady and general service was excellent without being obtrusive.

    Great food, excellent menu, lovely level of service - especially the Sommelier - her knowledge and attention to detail always impresses us and is much appreciated, a real asset for the Greyhound. The service was not rushed, the tables are not overcrowded, we are made to feel welcome when we arrive, by far the best Gastro Pub in the area and good value for money given the quality. Negative comment - needs a bigger car park, but that is being fussy - we always manage to park in the end and many pubs in the area suffer the same issue at busy times.

    Great service and atmosphere. It’s a really lovely pub most of the time the food is great, however on the occasions the desserts were a bit of a let down.

    Booked for a staff xmas lunch - festive menu. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals - found no faults whatsoever! Service was perfectly timed, not slow nor rushed with smiling friendly staff.
