The Grand Marlin Restaurant features a main dining area with a shucked to order oyster bar, exterior North Drop Bar overlooking the beautiful Santa Rosa Sound, and private meeting rooms. This Pensacola Beach restaurant, with an air of island casualness, serves the highest-quality cuisine, including the freshest local seafood featured on menus designed and printed daily to take advantage of the local bounty. The atmosphere creates a fusion of the Caribbean and the Pensacola Bay Area. Executive Chef Gregg McCarthy has a passion for great-tasting food and particularly loves working his culinary magic with fresh Gulf Coast seafood. Boaters and beach-goers feel comfortable in shorts and flip-flops at the oyster bar, in the dining room and at the North Drop Bar. The Grand Marlin has a space and atmosphere for all occasions and is looking forward to creating an authentic experience between time and tide.

This is THE premiere eatery on Santa Rosa island. If you desire great food, impeccable service, wonderful views, this is it! It always starts at the front. The hostess was casual and friendly. As this was a first time, and off season traffic was light, she let us tour the venue and choose our own table. How nice. The west side , the upscale side, had the shades down and couldn’t see out as much, so we chose the east side- an open, lofty area around what in the summer would be an outside patio. But they had clear shades down to limit the wind, and views were great. Many fly bys occurred by the squadron of pelicans that seemed to smoke at us! The waiter was on us like ducks on a pond, giving us the full understanding of the daily changing menu. My wife chose the one thing always on the menu, the grouper piccata, which was excellent, on top of satisfying whipped potatoes and steamed spinach. If you come to the gulf and don’t experience the best gulf shrimp in the world- shame on you! They were plated with crispy fries and perfect coleslaw, with tartar AND cocktail sauce. Drinks fantastic, both of local varieties. But the piesta la resistance was the dessert! Unbelievable warm, crusty chocolate circle of brownie cake piled high with vanilla ice cream, topped with caramel and nuts, dressed with blues and blackberries! Really wonderful- enough for four!

My family had a blast, when ever we find ourselves in Pensacola we come to eat here! We absolutely love the grouper piccata, crab claws, and lobster fingers. Randall took care of our group and truly exceeded expectations and is an exemplary waiter.

What a grand experience! There were 4 of us for dinner. My in-laws had the grouper piccata and the shrimp and grits. My boyfriend had the Mahi-Mahi feature dinner, and I had the salmon. Everything was absolutely divine. Our seats by the window overlooking the sunset was exquisite. The drinks were great, and the desserts (key lime pie and crème brûlée) were a great ending to the dining experience. And hats off to our server, Braden, for his excellent service and knowledge both on the food and beverage.

The blue crab claws were just fine. The side spinach tasted like seasoned frozen spinach. I make better spinach at home. Same with the risotto. The risotto is really bland. Whipped potatoes are nothing special and neither is the asparagus. The blackberry mojito martini seemed watery. The Bloody Mary was pretty good. The lobster was cooked well. And the grouper was maybe a 7.5 out of ten (although my grandfather felt it was overcooked). I just honestly thought most of the stuff I make better at home. It’s all classic sort of recipes so it’s really not hard to make them at the house. So it sort of felt like a let down to get stuff at a restaurant that I know how to make better.
