We have visited this pub lots of times and never been disappointed with the food but sadly this time we were very let down after looking forward to a Sunday roast The food was really tasty but barely even warm apart from the cauliflower cheese which was brought out separately When asked how our meal was at the start by the waitress we were honest and mentioned this, the staff were very accommodating offering us a fresh hot replacement but we were so hungry after having no breakfast we just stuck with it hoping the extra hot gravy we ordered would help. We were then offered either free puddings, wines or a discount off the bill (we accepted the offer of the latter) We can’t fault the staffs attitude in how they dealt with the problem they were polite and apologetic, it wouldn’t put me going again to the pub but it was just disappointing if I’m honest

We arrived on time and was seated on time, we then waited the best part of 45 minutes when a server approached and asked what drinks we wanted even though we hadn’t been given any drinks menu or food menu at which we then had to ask, food was extremely slow and the roast potatoes tasted as if pre cooked and then reheated, some of the veg was sliced so thin they then become crispy, so overall not the greatest experience

The restaurant area was very noisy and we just wanted somewhere quiet, but the other side of the bar was lovely and peaceful. The food was lovely and tasty, hot and flavoursome. The actual from order to receiving the food was a little bit slow, but as we were not in a rush and wanted to decompress after a long day at work, it was not to much of an issue, however for some this may be something to know. The actual ambience was lovely, although I felt the stairs down to the toilets were made for giants, my gosh both of us were struggling. The wooden bar, biscuits for dogs and lovely big chairs by a fireplace was lovely, even the garden looked beautifully lit, if there were some burners there to keep you warm maybe a lovely evening. For our first time it was good, I think the only one little element my poor friend had was we kept having lots of small black flies like fruit flies or flies from house plants where we were sitting so we were constantly swatting not sure why, we did mention this to the staff. In short, lovely tasty food, totally yummy a good range of choices from healthy to naughty and lovely friendly and chatty/helpful staff. Definately worth a visit for a relaxed no rush meal.

Had lunch here today. Two of the company chose Pie of the Day and as we didn’t have starters, we had to wait 25/30 minutes as the pies are cooked fresh to order. This was no problem as the six of us had plenty to talk about. I have been informed by both it was worth the wait…..Chicken, Ham & Leek. Another favourite was Bangers and Mash. Bangers were very well done but this did not detract from the taste. Gammon, Egg and Chips, again, delicious. I had the Vegetable & Chickpea Tagine with Quinoa and Mint Yoghurt served with a flatbread (which could have done with being softer) which was really tasty. Suffice to say, clean plates were returned to the kitchen! We will certainly be back!

Hi Linda , thank you for the lovely review . We do allow a little bit extra time for the pies as the pastry needs to cook through . We are glad you enjoyed your food and hope to see you again sometime soon.

Disappointing. Didn't have items on menu, service incredibly slow, courses brought out at different times, couldn't serve dessert due to blow torch being broken. Overall disappointing experience.
