Located 20yds from the beach in the beautiful seaside village of Sandsend, we’re just a short drive from the popular fishing town of Whitby, North Yorkshire.

We have a real love for the sea and pride ourselves in serving the finest, locally caught sustainable fish and seafood in a casual dining environment.

At Fish Cottage, we welcome the whole family to our seafood restaurant and that includes the four legged members too. So you can head off on a coastal adventure knowing that afterwards you can enjoy a delicious seafood supper all together at our dog friendly restaurant in Sandsend, Whitby.

Restaurant opening times: 11:30 am open, last seating 8 pm; Last orders takeaway Mon-Sun 8.00 pm

We don't take bookings for our outside areas, its on a first come basis.

    We booked The Fish cottage as a treat for my birthday. The restaurant is a fair way from Whitby so we took a taxi. When we arrived we noticed all of the lights were off and no one in the car park. It appeared to be closed, we rang but no reply. We realised that we weren't eating those that evening and got a taxi back. When we got back to Whitby I emailed, three days later and still no reply or explanation. Overall a really poor experience which cost money on taxis, no response from the restaurant, despite us confirming the reservation day before. It's a real shame as we were all looking forward to a great evening .

    We had a really lovely night for New Years Eve at The Fish Cottage. Service was impeccable with all the staff working so well together to deliver each course efficiently and succinctly and the food was amazing. We loved everything about our evening - thank you to everyone at Fish Cottage for making NYE 2024 so memorable.l

    Outstanding as always, our go to place for fish and chips, we travel an hour and a half, outstanding service by all staff, fish and chips cannot be beaten and the setting is fabulous, definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area but suggest you book as always so busy every time we visit.

    Food was excellent as usual, the Oysters were Devine ! The prawn taco was excellent too The restaurant is small, cosy - unfortunately when a very large table is beside you it’s a bit overpowering The service - the only real issue was we kept being told we had to leave the table @2pm, we booked in for 12.30 and arrived 15 mins late due to the fog on the roads We left at 2.01pm - as we had to wait 10 mins to get the attention of staff The food had been lovely and didn’t feel rushed when eating We’ve been many times and thoroughly enjoyed the food / restaurant

    Food ok but overpriced, same with the house wine. 3 of us were crammed on to a table for 2 so had to use a nearby dresser as an overspill. Wouldn’t return
