Inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Northern Italy, The Fat Ox of Banff brings a taste of the Italian Alps to our guests. Our name, "Fat Ox" pays homage to the robust flavors and hearty dishes found in Northern Italian cuisine.

Symbolizing strength, endurance, and the bounty of the land, it reflects our commitment to serving exceptional meals crafted from the finest ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible and prepared with care & expertise. Our view for our guests is: We just want to have fun!

Our Mother's Day menu features delicious breakfast and brunch offerings, crafted with fresh ingredients and heartfelt flavors to honor the amazing women in our lives. If you prefer to join us in the evening our chef has created wonderful seasonal dishes for the evening. Menu Highlights: For the food lovers: Indulge in house-made focaccia, burrata with eggplant caponata, or savour the luxurious shrimp scampi in Calabrian chili garlic butter. For pasta aficionados: Dive into comforting ricotta gnocchi in gorgonzola cream, or our vibrant shrimp fazzoletti with leek, spinach, and snap peas. For brunch traditionalists: Enjoy our Mountain Breakfast with sausage or bacon, or delight in a creative twist with our bison hash or Florentine Benedict. A sweet finish: Don’t miss the GF tiramisu crêpe cake, layered with espresso marsala whipped cream. We have partnered with Banff Mountaintop Flowers to help celebrate all the important women in our life.     Your favourite burger buds from Calgary are back for the Victoria Day Long Weekend! Bastion Burger returns to The Fat Ox of Banff, bringing their signature smash burgers with them. Enjoy the burgers on the patio with our full serving cocktails, beer and wine. Feel like getting bragging rights on your friends? We'll have Jenga and Cornhole set up as well.     Absolutely phenomenal experience and every bit worth the hype. The service is beyond attentive, they make you feel as if they've known you forever. They take care in ensuring your experience is top notch. The food, the drinks, the ambience, service, everything was 10/10. Highly recommend!!

    We went on a Wednesday night so we could get the date night menu which was $40pp which is really cheap considering how big the meals and how good the food was. The carbonara was one of the best I have eaten out at a restaurant. Obviously you’re limited to what choices you have but the options on that date night menu were still great. We had great service, the music was good and we loved the venue. The deserts were also good but just not my sort of flavours maybe next time I’ll try the sorbet. And we wished the entrees were bigger as they were so delicious and when sharing between the two of us they went quickly. Would definitely come back

    We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Such a lovely spot for a special occasion. Beautiful ambiance and our sweet server Clare was great.

    Wow! What and experience. After several bad misteps at other places in town, we almost cancelled our reservation. We are beyond grateful we did not. Service was incredible. Food was delightful and full of flavor. Service was a real treat and it was an exceptional evening beyond comparison. Flawless dinnig experience. The only downfall is we leave tomorrow and easily could have dined her every single night and there is so much more we wish to try. Thank you!!

    The food was decent and the focaccia was fresh and flavourful. The shrimp was good but the steak was overcooked even tho we ordered medium rare. Nothing else was outstanding so wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to come here.

    It was amazing the best food I have had in a while the shrimp skampy is amazing ask the server for some of the bread that comes with it
