Exciting times here at The Dovecote, we are having a refurbishment!

This affects reservations made between 17th Feb and 7th March, Opening hours will remain the same, however we will be moving the restaurant into our Granary Loft function suite while we carry out the works. Access will be through our function entrance.

Unfortunately during this period there will be no disabled access or disabled toilets.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are looking forward to welcoming you all back, customers old and new and hope you love the refurbishment as much as we do!

We were welcomed very warmly by reception staff who also took our drink order. The ambience is very nice internally. Order was taken and we were shown to our table. The broth was very tasty and nice to have a selection of bread. We ordered lamb shank and beef for main course. The meat on the plate was cold, the cheesy mash was mush, brocolli cold, carrots/parsnips were hot, so too the roast potatoes. No staff were in the restaurant so we ate what we could. It was nice, but, would have preferred the food hotter. The desserts were very nice too. We will call again, but, we will inform the waiting staff if the food is cold. Thank you.

Today at the Dvcocote Morley Hays was not as good as have had before there. Beef was not pink as ordered and no where up to the usual standard . Service was very very slow .

We all enjoyed our experience. Food was excellent - tasty and with some interesting ingredients. Service was very good. Attentive without being intrusive. Atmosphere was good too. A delightful Sunday lunch celebrating our daughter's birthday.

When given the menus we were not asked if any of us had any allergies. We hadn't but it was disappointing not to be asked. Also when I ordered a Coffee I was not offered a choice of either Cream or Milk. These are things I believe should be expected at a restaurant of this quality. Other than the above everything else was lovely.

We enjoyed our visit,but it was a very cold day outside and as we were sat opposite the entrance we felt cold after a while,we thoroughly enjoyed the food but the chorizo and hash browns were difficult to get out of a high sided bowl with a knife and fork. Service was attentive and relaxed. We will definitely return here again

Superb in all regards except one! The service was charming and very professional. The food was delicious and without fault. Portions ample, perfectly cooked and presented! Overall flawless however the coffee is awful! Really poor. The house cafetière coffee which my wife had, was bad, very 1970’s warm with very low quality taste. Not trusting cafetière coffee I ordered a cappacino at extra cost which was as poor. Come on Dovecote, time to catch up with the rest of the world and serve decent coffee. Such a prestigious reputation and otherwise generally great - what a shame!
