Founded in 1911 as a small ice cream and candy shop in the heart of Downtown Mount Vernon, The Alcove offers the finest dining experience in Central Ohio. Our diverse menu includes steak and seafood favorites as well as our signature Prime Rib of Beef available Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings.     What a gem. We drove from Columbus and had a stellar meal. Our server Evelyn was delightful- knew the menu very well, attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back.

    This is one of our favorite high end restaurants. The food and service were good. For Valentines Day we were a bit disappointed that there was not an expanded lunch menu or specials. We had previously made reservations and were somewhat disappointed that we were seated in the bar area. These are small things and will not change our opinion as one of the best in the area.

    Soup of the day was Salmon chowder- decadent; crisp Caesar salad on a chilled plate- excellent. Chef's Feature was crab stuffed fresh walleye, with an incredibly delicious walnut sage sauce, served over house whipped potatoes and delicate green beans. Mom had chicken cordon bleu, perfection. For dessert we shared a creme brulee that was also perfectly prepared. Service that started at the front door, efficient, timely, and noticeable teamwork. Absolutely beautiful setting, unobtrusive background music. Even the manager stopped by to say hello! We loved the entire experience.
