   We had a great dinner overall. The drinks, food, and service were all great. The one complaint I have would be that there was an unpleasant sewer gas smell wafting over our table during our dinner. It was unfortunate. Other than that, we enjoyed our meal.

   Loved the vibe but the Cavatelli was so salty we almost sent it back. Couldn’t finish it. The place wasn’t packed so I was surprised how long it took to get both the wine and the food. Love Eatily in NYC and I’m hopeful the SJ location will step up to that level of quality and service.

   Terra was fine - we had to move to the second floor because we added one person to our reservation from 4ppl to 5. They couldn’t accommodate that change (even though I tried to call and sent a note through the app). So they stuck us on the 2nd floor - in the restaurant annex - and told us it was the same menu but we couldn’t get beer on tap - nor our first choice of a bottled option (main bar is upstairs and they decided not to go up there to get our preferred drinks). More importantly was that not all our food came at the same time - three entrees came and then almost 10 minutes later - the other 2. We would have ordered more drinks - but no one asked. We had to ask for more water. Food was decent. The pasta was good.

   It was our first time eating here, though I've eaten at Eataly in LA. I have purchased food at Eataly Silicon Valley. The atmosphere was bland, with weird patio chairs, dark decor, and music so loud that we couldn't hear our waiter. We had to turn the lights on our phones to see the menu. The salads were way underdressed, 2 of us had polenta -- fair at best. I had the cavatelli which was good. The drinks and wine were tasty. I'd be very reluctant to eat here again.

   Food is only fair and feels like the kitchen doesn't attempt to make an attractive dish. The singer (on a Sunday afternoon was not good ) and it was a very loud and did not allow easy conversation. The restaurant is expensive for the quality and amount of food.

    We had a beautiful experience yesterday at Alpina/Terra! Our meal was fantastic: we started with a hot cheese fondue and housemade focaccia, followed by an authentic Italian dish called canederli, which I’m pretty sure you can’t find anywhere else. We also had an amazing polenta with American Wagyu wurstel. Since it was our Valentine's dinner, we ended our meal with the special dessert, which was absolutely delicious. Our server, Joseph, took great care of us. We’ll definitely be back!
