About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Lively
  • Great for fine wines
Located on the third floor of Eataly Boston, Terra is a unique restaurant inspired by earth and fire. The dining room centers around a wood-burning Italian grill, where the Terra culinary team cooks raw ingredients over burning flames, allowing the simple flavors to shine.

In every earthy dish, the fire’s smoked warmth rekindles our fundamental connection to the elements. Plentiful and playful, the grilled plates are perfect to share around the restaurant's rustic tables, especially when paired with seasonal drinks.

I wanted to love it but I didn’t. The restaurant is beautiful but the service wasn’t good and the food was just ok. Not sure if they were overwhelmed given it was Mother’s Day but the server never checked on us shortly after the food arrived, my son never got his orange juice, the steak that was ordered “medium” arrived completely raw and they never asked if we wanted more coffee (we went for brunch). The servers at the greasy spoon down the street from my house are more attentive than these servers were. I expected better from a restaurant like this.

It was Mother’s Day, so I get it. Although it didn’t seem like anyone was slammed. Service was great. Ambiance was amazing and that’s a big part of what you’re paying for to eat there. As far as the quality of the ingredients that went into the food, very good. The execution not so much. I got the eggs Benedict. One egg was perfect, the other was well done. The craziest part was the sautéed baby spinach that came with it on the side. It was like 8 leaves. Not even a handful. A ten pound case of baby spinach costs under $20 from a produce vendor, don’t skimp. The eggs Benedict was $28 on the menu. If I’m paying that much money for two eggs the dish better be excellent. It was not. The eggs were very good quality though. My Mom had the rabbit pasta special. Again, quality of ingredients excellent. The whole dish was extremely bland though. Like the salt police came and took it all away, and a pinch of cheese. We also got a cannoli outside of the restaurant in Eataly. Sugar bomb. The ricotta was so over sweetened. If I were to go back (which I wouldn’t) it would be to try something off the wood fired grill, because that seems to be the focal point of the restaurant.

Excellent as always! We had the pappardelle cacio e pepe, and the Mother’s Day special tagliatelle with rabbit ragu. Both were delicious!

The ambiance is great. The service was very poor. Drinks were good. The food was good tasting but in smaller portions. The waiting staff was not friendly or attentive.

We are frequent patrons but this time not so great. Just an off night. Mushrooms tough and skewers pastry inside and flavorless. Great salad. Crudo also without good flavor. Maybe the fishes shouldn’t be all together?
