   We had a lovely holiday dinner with the family. The food was magnificent and the service was attentive without being overly attentive. The wine pairing suggestions were superb and the dessert suggestions were spot on.

   Since Trulucks closed in La Jolla we’ve been in search of a new favorite restaurant. Last night Steak 48 sealed the deal. Service experience and food quality exceeded our expectations. Just a great evening all around.

   We live right down the street from Steak 48, have heard great things from various friends, and have wanted to go for a while. It certainly lived up to the hype. Our server, Ben, was solicitous (very helpful in making choices) and charismatic, and the food was fantastic (my Branzino was the best I have ever had…New England lobster rolls as an appetizer also were wonderful). The wine list was excellent, too. We definitely will return—and enthusiastically!

   Great place to celebrate, my wife and I celebrated our Anniversary and everything was wonderful. The food was delicious we would definitely go back again

   I was excited to try steak 48 but the experience but felt quite short of my expectations. When I first got there and sat down, it took 15 minutes for my waiter to come and give a menu. Shortly after I got the menu, I got their house bread, which was very greasy and made my mouth dry. When my server came back after 10 minutes to take my order, I ordered the ribeye bone in steak and the coconut passionfruit drink. The ribeye was cooked correctly however the flavoring completely was off. The drink also tasted very weird and had a dry twist to it. Finally for dessert, I ordered the red velvet bread pudding. When I first took a bite of this dessert, it tasted like cardboard, flavored red velvet. May have been the worst dessert I’ve ever had from a restaurant. On top of that they gave me a fork that was bent out of shape. If you’re thinking about trying this place stay away and go to Ruth Cris instead.

   Michela is the best server I have ever had. The GM Stacey and restaurant manager Alex are incredible and extremely personable. This is my favorite restaurant by far and have eaten here more than a dozen times. Highly Highly recommended.

   The service is incredible and the ambience top notch. Food is just ok for the price, not super impressed with anything I ate, but perhaps I ordered wrong. Oh and side note: floors are super slick. Be careful walking around in heels.
