First time at St John. This newer (2022 -) branch showcases the offering they are known for, in the village-like (compared to the brash Mayfair and Soho areas) surroundings of Marylebone.
First of all, the atmosphere is great, it's got a neighbourhood restaurant feel, and puts you at ease even though it is serving a discerning food experience.
The food is very thoughtfully prepared, and their menu changes daily. My dining companion and I opted for dark crab on toast (delicious, delicate and rich) , jerusalem artichokes (hardly my favourite vegetable but somehow they made it very tasty! Ox Heart was quite tasty but slightly less flavoursome. The roast pork was delicious and melt in the mouth. For desert, bread and butter pudding was wonderfully put together from the surplus baked goods (i.e. delicious!) from their bakery, and the blood orange posset was smooth and delightfully simple with its balance of tart and sweet. I/we would definitely visit again to see what wonders might await next time.
