    South of Nick’s for Christmas Eve was excellent as it usually is throughout the year. Food was delicious, and service was outstanding from start to finish. It is one of San Diego’s finest Mexican restaurants!

    We have eaten here several times in the past and it was outstanding. We decided to make a reservation for Christmas Eve for a late lunch. First of all, the parking was $5 to park in front of the restaurant for some reason, not sure if this is new or just because of the number of shoppers at the mall. We were disappointed there weren't any Christmas decorations in the restaurant, and the music was loud, Latin music and not very appealing, no Christmas music? I think most people enjoy some sign of Christmas in a restaurant, especially on Christmas Eve! I ordered the skinny margarita and it was so full of ice, I took 4 sips and it was gone! This was a $16 drink. I let the waiter and the trainee know and they brought me a new one on the house, which was greatly appreciated. Our food was good, but the beer my friend ordered (Dos XX) was flat, and we didn't want to look too picky so he just didn't drink it. We are regular Nick's diners, and I have to say this meal was a huge disappointment. I normally give great reviews, but we just didn't have a good meal or experience here today.

    The filet taquitos were absolutely horrible. What a joke. It’s like something from 7 eleven. I expected 2 amazing Taquitos with a nice layer of guac and sour cream. Drizzle and drizzle . I ate half of one of them and left virtually the rest of my meal. If they keep serving terrible plates like this, they’ll be out of business.

    South of Nicks is really good Mexican; I just had the blackened fish tacos, and I appreciated them respecting my dairy allergy. Good mocktails too, friendly and timely service

    Best high end Mexican food we’ve in San Diego! We had the filet mignon ranchero and the El Vaquero plate. The meat was cooked perfectly on both plates and the flavors were delicious! Kudos to the Chef. The service was outstanding and our server was extremely knowledgeable for our child’s food allergies. Can’t wait to go back.
