South Block is a North-Carolina inspired BBQ hall and brewery on the edge of Mission, in Calgary. Upstairs you’ll find a large dining room, 20-seat bar, and a year-round indoor/outdoor beer garden. Downstairs hosts our stage, live music hall, and brewerey – where we brew our entire draft lineup from classic staples like our Pilsner, Lager, and IPAs, to our unique seasonal Peach Bourbon Ale and Mango Wheat Ale.

Behind the bar, we run a hand-crafted cocktail program and offer a whiskey list of over 200 varietals, including American, Canadian, Irish, Scottish, and Japanese whiskeys.

However, the biggest draw has to be our slow-smoked barbecue menu. Inspired by the flavours of North Carolina, our team arrives early every morning to smoke our famous brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and more for up to 14 hours.

We had a meet-up of family and friends and everyone really enjoyed their food and drinks. We had excellent service and it was a nice and bright open table to catch up

Food was absolutely delicious! I loved how you can just order all the different kinds of meat separately! Great place for a carnivore! Drinks were top notch as well. If you’re a whiskey drinker this is the place! Server was very good and she was very friendly! Was a busy place and we barely waited at all! Highly recommended!

We had never been to South Block until last night. We went to hear our friend's band, Whiskey Monkey, and our expectations were exceeded in every way!

Great music, great food, and Ramona was a fantastic waitress. The only disappointment was that the band was cut off after 2 sets even though lots of people were dancing, which was a bit of a head scratcher.
