Soothr, properly pronounced “Sood” is the Thai word meaning “Recipe”. This East Village establishment is the vision of close friends who grew up in different regions of Thailand, hoping to share their experiences and recipes with the rest of the world. Raised in distinctive regional cities, each individual brings their own unique relationship with Thai cuisine, with a specific focus on the generational family recipes that have shaped their childhood and time growing up in Thailand. With a specialty in family noodle recipes from throughout Thailand, Soothr offers a culinary experience that is geared towards the comfort and warmth of dining at home. We arrived at 6 PM for a party of four to celebrate a birthday, but unfortunately, it felt like we were rushed the entire time. From the moment we sat down, we were pressured to order drinks, appetizers, and our main courses. While our server was friendly, they were incredibly insistent on getting our order in quickly. Once we placed our order, the food arrived within just five minutes. We started with appetizers, but before we could even finish them, the main entrees showed up, leaving us with all the food at once spread across the table. It really took away from the enjoyment of the meal and the birthday celebration. By 7 PM, we were finished and felt so rushed that we didn’t even want to bother with a birthday cake or dessert. It wasn’t the experience we were hoping for at all!

The food was good but we had to wait in the cold until 9:35 when our reservation was for 9pm. No one apologized or acknowledged the wait.

We got seated right away. And because I was celebrating my birthday I even got a card. Thank you! The food was oh so tasty and delicious! Service was great. Staff was wonderful (and may I add all good looking men and women 😊) Worth travelling from Connecticut!
