   We returned to the Sondes Arms after having a loving Christmas afternoon tea last year. Unfortunately it wasn't as nice this year. You got a little bit of everything instead of choosing what you wanted meaning there were things that we didn't like, so there was wastage. The Yorkshire pudding wraps were delicious and so were the puddings. Unfortunately the roast potatoes were luke warm and overcooked, which were very disappointing. One of our table members had a normal meal and unfortunately got forgotten about and ended up eating on their own. Overall a bit disappointing.

   The service today was very slow,the carvery was only warm and the roast potatoes were burnt and very hard to cut as they tasted as if they had been sat there for a long time,the veg was quite tough too not very fresh. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our desert to come out after asking the waittress where it was. We had also been seated by the door that led to leaving the pub and the toilets so kept getting a very cold draught while eating, maybe don't put a table so close to the door.

   Carvery was delicious and plentiful, despite being busy we were served very quickly, waitress staff all very pleasant

   Absolutely horrible and sad experience. We have travelled an hour to go to the sondes arms and was given such terrible service. The food was lovely but there were numerous delays throughout the meal which then lead on to them pushing us out of the restaurant whilst we were waiting for our coffees due to their 2 hour limit. We appreciate this is a policy but the way we were told was appalling and the lady at front of desk is probably the worst woman I have ever encountered in hospitality. She’s aggressive, rude, unreasonable and does not want to listen. She blamed the kitchen staff and only having one coffee machine. We will not be returning and we really did use to love going there which is such a shame. Parking is also awful especially if you need a disabled spot.

   We haven't been here for about 7 years, and I am so glad we did. We chose the festive menu which was a carvery and it was lovely. Enough meat, could have done with 2 pigs in blankets, but all the trimmings and veg were really well presented and tasty.. We were seated by the door, so we got an icy blast every time the door opened, and also on the only round table that was really wonky.. My only gripe is when paying with the card you are asked to add a gratuity starting at 10% ! How about adding 5% too.?

   We ordered from the Christmas lunch menu. Two of us are vegetarian and one is vegan, unusually there were plenty options. For the nut roast you get to choose from the carvery veg and it's all clearly labelled. Veggie gravy, roasties, stuffing and loads of other options were available. Deserts were good too, trillionaires tart is vegan and looked delicious. Overall, one of the best veggie Christmas lunches we've had in the area for a while, £22.50 for 2 courses is good value. First time we've been here in years and will definitely return.

   We had the Christmas afternoon tea it was really nice apart from the cold sandwiches. The bread was very hard and we can’t. How to keep asking and we waited over 40 minutes again for our afternoon tea to arrive as we had to ask if it’s ready.

   Excellent Carvery. Wednesday night has become a trip down to the Sondes for the Carvery. Fabio, Michaela, the Kitchen in its entirety and the serving staff; are an fantastic team.
