   Food was very flavorful. I tried three different margaritas and they were all great. The sugar cane filet appetizer was ridiculously good. Don’t skip the butter cake for dessert!!!

   We made reservations and arrived a few minutes early however they got us seated immediately. Carlos our Waiter was excellent and his suggestions spot on. I had the rack of lamb and it was cooked to perfection, not easy finding a meal like that in the valley let alone at such a reasonable price, not cheap mind you but fair. My wife had the Pablamo stuffed with Pork it was also excellent, very tasty and grilled just how she likes it. We were in a bit of a hurry and our food was served promptly although not rushed at all. The signature coating on the margarita was a bit too spicy for us so we won't try the raspberry jam on the rim again however we will be back for more of this excellent food and ambiance. Almost forgot one of the best things, PARKING, and plenty of it, such a relief to get there and not have to worry about where to park.

   I would not return. Somehow, they were overwhelmed with tables and did not notify us when we arrived. It took 20 minutes to get water. Then, we had to find a server to get a refill of water. We had our server tell us that the bar was very behind, and he apologized for the delay due to not having enough staff for the amount of guests. It took about 20 minutes for appetizers to arrive, about another 30 minutes for food, and over a full hour from ordering before we got our drinks. We asked for more water, and we were told we would get a pitcher of water after a different server filled our glasses. That pitcher never arrived. On top of that, when our food arrived, we had 5 out of 6 plates arrive. We waited about 10 minutes before asking about the last plate. We found out the server didn’t write down the order (though we saw him write it down). He rushed it, and we got it. I spoke to the manager who promised to comp the whole meal. When we left, we were then told by a different manager that we had to pay for everything but an appetizer and the plate that arrived late. Needless to say, if this is the experience you want to pay for, then this is the restaurant for you.

   Salsa that came with the tortilla chips was awesome! Everything else was good, but not great and certainly not exceptional like most of the reviews. Pricey for the quality.

   Service was the worst I’ve ever had but at least he admitted it (we will call him Lew). Waited 15 minutes when we sat down until he finally showed up telling they just told him this was his table. Took our order which included drinks, never got the drinks and he never checked on our table until we were finished. When he finally did he told us he put the drink order in the wrong que which never sent them out. We ordered dessert and waited another 15-20 minutes. I went in to the hostess to get a status check. Felt like I was requesting a welfare check since Lew was nowhere to be seen. Dessert finally came and we asked to tab out. He brought the check and apologized saying he knew it wasn’t a great experience… but that we should probably come earlier because it gets busy and the kitchen gets backed up. I really wanted to tell Lew that wasn’t the main issue but points for honesty on the not great experience thing. I’m very emphatic to servers but Lew was either swamped or in way over his head. Maybe both? I suggest another line of work. Regardless the food was pretty good, very spicy. I’d probably go back for that margarita but will walk away if they stick us with Lew again.

   I have heard so many good things about Sol Agave so we decided to try it. We were ignored by 2-3 people as they walked past the reception desk but we had a reservation so I wasn't too worried. We were seated immediately and our waiter Paul was there a minute after. My napkin had a stain on it but it had appeared to have been washed so I didn't bother saying anything. Paul brought our drinks and noticed mine had lipstick on the glass before he set it down, so maybe the napkin wasn't washed after all. We ordered the guacamole tester for an appetizer. One was a lobster, traditional, and carne. The lobster guac was truly awful, it was so fishy I only had it once. The traditional was way too salty. The carne was good, but the pulled pork was hard to scoop onto a chip since it was cold. Paul was great to us. Our drinks were never more than half empty and he was always checking in to see how we were doing. I ordered the Mar Y Tierra and the food I received was so disappointing for being a $38 plate. It had clearly been sitting out because it was lukewarm. The tortillas were thick and soggy and the sauce was overly salted. There were two enchiladas and I ate 80% of one of them. I told Paul this and he offered to make me another plate but we had an event to get to and didn't have time to wait so he offered a free dessert. The free butter cake was brought to us and the cinnamon and other spices were way too overpowering so I scraped them off the ice cream. The parts of the cake that were baked through tasted good but the center was undercooked. We also never had the manager (or whoever it was walking around in a white shirt asking how things were going) stop at our table. He stopped at every table in our row but never once at ours. The only thing that we didn't have in common was I'm not a wealthy-looking 50-something couple or family. Even after I said my food was cold, he never stopped. That was our first and last time going to Sol Agave.
