Skua is a small basement restaurant and bar located on St Stephen street in Stockbridge. The food menu, led by Head Chef James Aikman, is seasonal, refined, well balanced and innovative. Drawing from a large library of pickled and fermented produce year round the kitchen team offers dishes that punch well above their weight and are produced in an exceptionally small space, visible to guests as they enter the restaurant. The cocktail programme, spearheaded by Jacob Thunder is equally innovative and playful with a regularly rotating selection of house favourites as well as the classics available on request. Skua has been listed in the Michelin Guide and The Good Food Guide since its opening year in 2023.

Food was hit and miss. An appetizer came out cold in the middle was replaced but still cold. Fish dish still raw and cold in the middle. Other dishes were lovely…..

Exciting tasty food served by well informed staff in a stylish environment. We had a great evening out here. Delicious venison and sea bass, and the vegetarian accompaniments were outstanding too. Only tiny suggestion would be to have more than one pudding option- but then I love my puddings and am just not a fan of affogato!

High hopes having heard great things but were not blown away by the dishes especially at that price point. Another factor is portion sizes - on the small side. Staff all very nice.

It’s not often I’m surprised by food in restaurants nowadays but this menu is well thought out and stretches the imagination. The taste is as good as the style in Skua. I’d recommend it highly. Friendly service also.

Very lovely experience. Beautiful minimalist deco, dark and sexy room. We shared four dishes, market fish was outstanding and steak tartare very tasty and balanced, mussels delicious and shiitake good. We also had a couple of cocktails and wine. Really enjoyed.

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. The understated menu doesn't do the dishes justice, everything had incredible flavour and was cooked exceptionally. The service was really good with the staff being friendly, amiable and really knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.
