About this restaurant

  • Lively
  • Great for brunch
  • Charming
The original pub stood at No 3, South King Street, which is now part of the Shopping Centre. Don’t be disheartened by this, Sinnott’s has one of the rarest and most genuine pub atmospheres in Dublin. Until recently, it was believed that the pub was first licenced in 1840, however, new evidence shows that a licence first appeared in 1763! In 1840, the Malone family took over (no relation to Molly), and by 1850s Laurence Malone had made a deal with the Coach Office for the Enniskerry – Roundwood Coach service. Unfortunately, this service was never regarded as the most punctual one, often leaving well after the designated departure times, since both the driver and the passenger took full advantage of the pub’s hospitality.

Not accepted at the entrance with no justification despite the fact we had a reservation for 18 people. We were left to find space in Dublin for 18 people on a Friday evening... Very disrespectful.

Disappointed with the menu which I’d looked at in advance. On arrival at 4:30pm, there was no steak available which cut out two options. I ordered a chicken burger which was incredibly heavily battered, with more batter than chicken. On a positive the service was excellent, so if you are looking for snacks to go with a drinking evening it is a good option…. Just not good for a pre theatre meal. One other flaw is steps going down with no option for a lift and no access to toilets without steps internally. I had an octogenarian with me, so these things become apparent.

As a sports bar experience goes, we were fortunate that Sinnott's was relatively empty the evening we we went. The noise level was not energetic, but would have been had it been crowded. We very much enjoyed the cheeseburgers on the menu. The service was attentive without being intrusive. All banquette and loose seating is raised for high table and bar serving.
