High quality does not have to be pretentious
Unlike other south-east asian cuisines, Vietnamese food has influences from France. Given this influence, cooking is definitely a culmination of East meets West where meals are prepared and cooked for hours rather than flash fried.

With fresh herbs, meats and vegetables, Simply Pasteur goes one step further than other Vietnamese restaurants by crafting our plates to be for a modern-american palette. That is, our cuisine is not only designed to be elegant, but also to be flavorful and to take experience into account.

Come relax and enjoy an elegant pairing of Vietnamese pho, noodles, rice dishes and more with our in-house cocktails, wines and full bar.

We love this restaurant, my favorite. I always feel like I’ve been transported to somewhere exotic & romantic whether inside in the winter or out back when the weather warms. Their crepe appetizer is my favorite though I love the curries too.

Food was very good and the service was friendly, but the restaurant was very cold. It got better as it filled up a bit—bring a sweater, especially if you are sitting by the window.

Not enough staff for Valentines night or any night at full capacity. People walked out. Shame. Everything else was fairly good/great.

In a word. " Disappointing". First time here and we are Vietnamese conniseurs, having eaten at Vietnamese restaurants all over Chicago and coast to coast. Ambience of restaurant definitely gives hints to the French influence in Vietnam, however that is where positives end. Started off with spring rolls with beef. Never had it that way before. Always had it with shrimp or tofu. Came out in four pieces. As soon as you bit into the roll, it fell apart. Flavor was average. The fish sauce was spicy. Way more than normal. For entrees I had shrimp in lobster sauce. It was just average. My wife had the duck curry. We specifically asked for it to not be spicy. It came out over the top spicy. So much so, my wife called the waiter over to see what could be done to fix the situation . Being it took an hour for the main course to come out, we asked for some rice noodles to come to balance out the spice. Those noodles never came and when asked was told that the kitchen was busy and didn't have time to get it out. We were given a small 20% discount on her plate only. Unfortunately we won't be back. It is not Vietnamese nor does it have French influence outside of the decor. We will stick to Argyle for authentic Vietnamese food

25 min for menu; 50 min for drink order; never asked if wanted anything else after order; could not get anyone to bring bill at end; put down cash and left; incredibly poor experience that was quite disrespectful to customers; experience was obviously being repeated throughout the restaurant with all customers

Pasteur was an exceptional dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The menu was loaded with a wide variety of dishes. The pho is a standout, while the dumplings were stuffed to perfection and full flavor. Highly recommended for fans of Vietnamese cuisine.

The dinner was over 2 hours and a half long. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy, so they must be clearly understaffed. They said they would comp us a round of drinks for the wait, but only half of those arrived
